Mr. Breathmask 555
Also pre-ordered the UK release of Bender's Big Score (DVD).Isn't there going to be a Dutch/Belgian release?Yes. It'll be out on June 25th. As far as I know, that will bring the full amount of Dutch Futurama releases to 2: this, and season 1 of the TV-series. I'm not counting on the rest of the show to get released. Everyone who wants it probably already has it, or at least already has the UK release of season 1, which had Dutch subtitles (unlike the other three), making it a poor choice for a market poll.Incidentally, the second out of the four direct-to-DVD Futurama movies, The Beast with a Billion Backs will be released in the US on June 24th. See here.and on that matter, will there be a 24 Season 1 SE over here too?I don't know.

pixie_twinkle 48
Just bought and watched the Polanski version of Oliver Twist. It was stunning. Visually it looked perfect, a wonderful recreation of Dickensien London. The acting was very solid, and Ben Kingsley's Fagin was very memorable. He managed to be paternal, creepy, and tragic all at once.

Marian Schedenig 8,179
Are you kidding? I loved it! Sure, it's bleak, but that can be a good thing. Especially when it's bleak like those old Polanskis, just done in a Hitchcock way. I admired pretty much everything about it - the direction, cinematography, colours, Bale, the Herrmann score. The script never gave away too much; I figured out a few bits of the puzzle, but never quite the whole thing. And I liked how the atmosphere was always on the edge of terror, yet the movie never gave in to giving a cheap shock moment.Unfortunately, my DVD has no extras. dvdcompare.net lists an alternate ending for some releases, but I couldn't find any info on that at IMDb or Wikipedia. Who can enlighten me?

mahler3 478
Well I bit the bullet a couple of weeks ago and decided to get a Blu-Ray player along with a new HD LCD TV and i'm not disappointed - the quality really is breathtaking. Admittedly if the print isn't well transferred the grain is more profound than on DVD (Oceans 13 is poor & some parts of Superman Returns i've noticed so far) but these are isolated moments. So far Crimson Tide and Casino Royale are my favourite examples of showcasing Blu-Ray but I have many more movies to experience yet.I now get your point Hitch, think i'll stop buying ordinary DVD's to try and avoid double-diping too much!By the way if you register your Sony player online and complete a short survey, Sony send you Spiderman 1, 2 & 3 and the Pirates trilogy on Blu-Ray absolutely free which isn't bad, albeit not great movies! Unsure if that applies to consumers outside Europe but i'm sure a similar offer is available.Any Blu-Ray recommendations to share please?

pixie_twinkle 48
Ah! Great scene, and great music (I finished watching it last night). In fact an all round great movie. The final three-way confrontation was spectacular! The extremely complex relationship between Eastwood and Wallach was an absolute joy to watch! One of the greatest pairings of mismatched characters I've ever seen in a movie. My only minor complaint about the film is that I wish Lee Van Cleef had a bigger role in it. After seeing a bond (of sorts) develop between Cleef's and Eastwood's characters by the end of For A Few Dollars More I was a little surprised there was no camaraderie between them at all in The Good The Bad and The Ugly. (Sorry, the preview for Indy 4 was just on TV so I had to watch it!)Back to my thoughts. Lee van Cleef was hardly in the movie. Even just one more path-crossing between him and the "Good" and the "Ugly" would have added the finishing touches of perfection. Although his presence is always felt in the film, even (especially!) when he is not on screen, I'd have liked one more meeting between him and Eastwood before the final showdown. Anyway, I thought the whole trilogy was superb, and the films actually got better as the series progressed! I can't think of a single other trilogy where the first film was excellent, and the two sequels each surpass their predecessors in quality. I consider myself a richer man for having seen these films. That doesn't happen often these days.

Koray Savas 2,251
My favorite film of all time. Once Upon A Time In The West is the greatest western of all time though. I've only seen it once, and don't remember much, but it was simply genius. I need to watch it again, it'll probably surpass The Good, The Bad And The Ugly on my list of favorite films.Pixie, you do realize Lee Van Cleef is a completely different character in The Good, The Bad And The Ugly than he was in For A Few Dollars More? That helps understand the whole scenario a little better. I had no complaint about his screen time. The film is flawless.I recommend you pick up the complete scores if you haven't already. You can find them on SAE.

That helps understand the whole scenario a little better.Ah. Yes, that puts a completely different slant on it. Strange to cast the same actor in a sequel made only one year after For A Few Dollars More and make it a different character! Mind you, I'm not complaining about the casting, Lee Van Cleef is an incredible actor with such magnificent features! In TGTBATU he's called Angel Eyes, and I think that's a wonderfully sarcastic name for him! Great!Yes, I must pick the scores to all three films up.the Invisible Man, what a fantastic film. yes its campy and over the top, but its funny and poingent, and features a tour-de-force performance by Claude Rains.the effects are fantastci, especially considering that nearly 80 years later they are done virtually the same today. It is a great film. Postlethwaite is brilliant (of course).Once Upon a Time in America - One of the many movies I've only seen once, about 10 years ago.The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Also seen this only once before, and never on the big screen.Sunshine - Boyle is usually good, and this was cheap.
