Indiana Jones Unreleased Music Resource

Recommended Posts

The purpose of this thread is to provide instructions for sequencing albums and incorporating unreleased music from the four Indiana Jones films.

For information on editing the original three Indy scores, check out the complete cue lists at indianajonesmusic.com.

Pitch Corrections

Many cues from Raiders of the Lost Ark and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom were transferred at improper speeds for Concord's Soundtracks Collection. The result is tracks that are too fast (higher pitched) or too slow (lower pitched). This problem can be corrected for the most part with the click of a button, though pitch/speed seems to vacillate slightly within some tracks. There is no easy fix for this.

A good, free method of speed correction is Audacity. Simply open a file, select all of the sound (Ctrl + A), go to the Effects menu and select "Change Speed." Do not select "Change Pitch" or "Change Tempo." Then type in the percent you want to adjust the track by in the box next to "Percent Change" and click "OK." If you hear degradations in quality, make sure that you haven't adjusted the pitch or speed (tempo) independently; pitch and speed go hand in hand.

On editing DVD ripped material:

Music ripped from the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull pre-visualization sequences should be boosted by approximately 3.5 decibels (depending) to match the OST material. The menu music is of variable volume, but the music from "They Weren't You" should be specifically increased by 5.9 decibels to match the pre-visualization music. When in doubt, go with your ear.

cool.

so the master tapes of Tod have really been dug out from the depths of hell.

It could also be a sign that an expanded score is beeing prepared,or they might have just used the previously available music.

Raiders

09 Unused Music *

* complete score bootleg

Is this a percussion cue about 5 seconds?

It's part of the Idol's themple. Its used in the movie.

Neil knows the exact placement on this

One of the bewildering microedits.

No, I think it's some alternative material from "Airplane Fight" or "Desert Chase." I actually don't have the complete bootleg; I have somebody's edit of the score. It omits a couple cues, it seems.

Anyways ,for the Star Wars games it was easy to use the unreleased music, they had the whole thing available digitally at the touch of a button

Now for Indy it is odd to have unreleased music suddenly popping up left and right. Unreleased music has never been used out of the film in any game or documentary before (or almost never). The music would probably be hard to get to and exist only on old and fragile recording sessions tapes and not instantly accessible as digital Wave files, Some form of remastering would be needed to use it,and why go through the trouble of doing that just to use in a Lego video game?

does my speculating make sense?

Well at the very least, assuming we can crack these music files from the game ,we might have a decent ToD Expanded score in a month. I always hope the game music editors are "aware" of this and not using random music that they like

who like playing Lego videogames?

i do, but dont expect much.

SW was 6 levels per movie each with one background music and one action music.

It's too bad that actually fans of music and movies don't make it as executives into those big movie corporations. I only see old bald men in suits having conferences on how to screw us over with maximum profit.

If the Lego game is anything like the Star Wars then I doubt there won't be much music that we haven't heard before. Oh sure there may be a snippet here and there but I wouldn't expect anything special.

For the Star Wars games there was no unreleased music from the prequels. Even on the original trilogy there wasn't a huge variety of music.

I think the music was remastered to create the surround sound mixes for the DVDs in 2004.

You can think that....but you would be incorrect.

Neil

Fair enough. Temple of Doom sounds very tinny and dated, so that makes sense.

You're talking about the Lego Star Wars games, correct?

Im confused. They had the master recordings of first 3 films for the DVD’s, so the music exists, right? So to put it on cd is some kind of copyright issue?

I am not currently giving out links to unreleased music; PMs will be ignored. If you want to acquire this music, go to the trading board.

It's that time again. LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures (June 3rd; demo May 13th) will feature unreleased Indiana Jones music. The purpose of this thread is to catalogue all unreleased music from the four films. Note that SFX-ridden DVD material will not be included in these track lists. Only clean rips such as end credits pieces are considered.

This is a work in progress and should not be considered definitive!

I've never heard alternative material existed. Isn't it from the LP cut or from the DVD or something?

How long is it?

As the creator of the bootleg, yes. They are LP cuts.

Luke, isn't the additional "Idol's Temple" music an insert?

Given that the demo only contains the South America, 1936 sequence I'm sure we can expect much more from the full game.

i think its edited out from the cue by some reason, but its not an insert, the cue was composed with that included.

it contains a last crusade cue

There's a Spanish website that gives reviews of the original three soundtracks, and also includes track times of unreleased cues interspersed chronologically. Pretty good stuff:

This is kind of tricky, but if you take the URL of that file and copy and paste it into your address bar, it won't redirect you to JWFAN.com. Sorry; best I could do with free web hosting.

Although it's probably not really the best I could do. I'll try to fix it.
