I support all types of Phil Collins hate!

I bet you've never heard a single  Flamming Youth, or Brand X record.

And to be clear, solo Peter Gabriel is a pop genius.  I just hate that theater kid prog rock BS.

He invented "world music".

No, wait! That was Brian Pern!

I love this album and I never seen or even heard about a two-disc version. I think I stick to the standard one-disc version. Never been a fan of distracting bonus discs.

Alex - who noticed how Collin's voice got more harsh over time

Me neither!  Be artistically confident to say "This is our album. Full stop."  B-sides can be collected in a compilation 20 years later.

@Disco Stu

I listened to those QOTSA albums and the results were pretty much what I expected.

Loved Rated R and Songs for the Deaf, and then everything after that was the occasional catchy single mingled with completely forgettable stuff in between.  Oh well.

I think I like songs that just groove more than you.  It doesn't have to have a great melody at all for me to love it.  I can close my eyes and ride the wave, man :P

Like this song I find irresistible for that reason.

I listen to some bands whose whole shtick is to just zone out on a single riff (with variations) for 10+ minutes.

Cleanse your palate with Nada Surf's Let Go and The Weight is a Gift!  Quickly!  There's no time!

Yea, I never got around to that.  I'm back on film scores today; Already listened to Dawn of the POTA and Monkey Island, now I'm on Speed 2

RIP Demme!

"Making Flippy Floppy" from that movie/soundtrack is my favorite single Talking Heads track I think.  At least right now...

George Harrison: "Paul ran out of good songs of his own."

It's a wonder they didn't all end up killing each other. What a mean thing to say about a former colleague.

Nice, but ALL 'N ALL has some brilliant stuff on it: JUPITER, and SERPENTINE FIRE, to name but two (three, if you count your choice!).

For all it's brilliance, it's still not as consistent a record as I AM.

I listened to this album on the commute home today.  It's a major guilty pleasure for me.  Corny as hell, and nothing compared to her classic Atlantic albums, but it always makes me happy.

53 years ago today, The Beach Boys released their LP "All Summer Long."  An album that has long had special personal meaning for me.  It's not some brilliant underappreciated pop masterpiece.  There's just something about it.  The self-mythologizing of youth, how it reflects this specific time and place in history.  Plus, great tunes.

The title song is great

And their cover of the 50s doo wop song "Hushabye" is a favorite.  I sing a version of this song to my children when I put them to bed actually.

Well yes of course.  I'm a huge fan of almost every era of The Beach Boys that includes Brian Wilson.  Sometimes you wanna talk about the less-celebrated early work.

Also, my personal favorite post-66 Beach Boys album is 20/20.  Always had a soft spot for that one.

I listened to a Canadian playlist on July 1st I'll have you know, I just didn't post here.

It had The New Pornographers, Rush, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Barenaked Ladies, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Tragically Hip, Broken Social Scene, and lots of others.

So many great Canadian pop bands that you probably don't care about.

I did say "lots of others."  But Shatner's music ain't gettin' nowhere near a playlist of mine.  It's good for a laugh but I'd never just listen to it casually.

Canadians legends... who all live in the USA.

Listen to some Charlotte Cardin, Alex Nevsky or Karim Ouellet, they are great Québécois young artists.
