Jay 37,340
@Disco Stu I listened to those QOTSA albums and the results were pretty much what I expected. Loved Rated R and Songs for the Deaf, and then everything after that was the occasional catchy single mingled with completely forgettable stuff in between. Oh well. I think I like songs that just groove more than you. It doesn't have to have a great melody at all for me to love it. I can close my eyes and ride the wave, man Like this song I find irresistible for that reason. I listen to some bands whose whole shtick is to just zone out on a single riff (with variations) for 10+ minutes.

Disco Stu 15,495
53 years ago today, The Beach Boys released their LP "All Summer Long." An album that has long had special personal meaning for me. It's not some brilliant underappreciated pop masterpiece. There's just something about it. The self-mythologizing of youth, how it reflects this specific time and place in history. Plus, great tunes. The title song is great And their cover of the 50s doo wop song "Hushabye" is a favorite. I sing a version of this song to my children when I put them to bed actually. Naïve Old Fart 9,513
Nice, but...no love for PET SOUNDS? CAROLINE NO is stunning. HOLLAND is my favourite BB record, and SAIL ON, SAILOR, with its leisurely 6/8 rythmn my favourite track.
Disco Stu 15,495
Well yes of course. I'm a huge fan of almost every era of The Beach Boys that includes Brian Wilson. Sometimes you wanna talk about the less-celebrated early work. Also, my personal favorite post-66 Beach Boys album is 20/20. Always had a soft spot for that one.
