Mother is the killer.

Bates Motel S5: Best season so far. It actually feels like a sequel to the first movie. The part of the actor who plays young Bates has become way more difficult but he's acquitting himself quite well. Has anybody noticed that sheriff Alex Romero looks like the real Norman Bates? Nobody? Really?!

Yes. I noticed that from the first episode. He looks like Psycho III Anthony Perkins. He talks like him too. It makes the romance with Mother all the weirder.

Also, why are you watching a Justin And Drax Show?

Like how Baby Jane is written as this repellantly grotesque creature of addiction, depression and insanity -- the sort you don't even need your mother to warn you about. And yet Davis took this horrifying character and did the unthinkable, she made her likeable and sympathetic. She seemed to understand that this miserable soul was victimised by her demanding stage dad and her insidiously deceitful sister over many decades, which provoked her to commit outrageous acts to terrorise Blanche into a state of perpetual fear. But her characterisation and delivery made you side with her all the way. She's not really the antagonist as her Wiki entry states, but more of an anti-heroine.

Rather like how Perkins made this pitiful and emasculated character Norman Bates so interestingly nuanced through his quirkiness, his cloak of innocence and his mild mannered demeanour. Something Gus Van Sant and Vince Vaughn missed completely in their bizarre wank of a remake. Vaughn's Norman was a creep from the moment you meet him.

That said, I retract my statement calling for a Baby Jane TV series. They'd just fuck it up as badly as that shitty Lynn Redgrave tele flick.

It used to be a KK show.

The 2010s was the perfect time to make a show about young Norman Bates and his Mother. People aren't interested in traditional protagonists anymore. They want to watch psychopaths and bloodbaths.

Isnt Don Draper a piece of shit though?

Walter White was.

Don Draper is an ever bigger twat than Walter White. The latter at least had some redeeming qualities.

Normal people aren't twats?

Some TV shows are about normal people pushed to extremes because of extraordinary circumstances. People who see Walter White or Don Draper as villains or as inherently bad persons are not ready for the golden age.

Wait, what?

The enormously arrogant and narcissistic (ego maniacs) of the world see a reflection of themselves in these characters when they watch. The sense of denial, like what Walter White and Don Draper exhibit, is very strong. They're children in men's bodies.

You said so "was" Chuck instead of so "is" Chuck; You know Chuck is dead because you're caught up to the last episode of season 3, but many people casually reading this thread might have only seen seasons 1 or 2, or not even started the show yet; It's a spoiler to reveal that Chuck dies

Right. So, Bates Motel. Norma and her son are just trying to live a peaceful life while dealing with mental illness and a town full of weirdos who all gravitate to the motel. The murders are initially committed during extreme circumstances involving spousal abuse and rape. But everything just keeps getting worse and worse...

Finished Stranger Things last night. Good season! Why was the film score “community” up in arms about the score again? Fit like a glove; an obvious 80s synth throwback. I imagine it’s the crazies that believe everything has to be orchestral and rousing?
