I'll be a great-grandfather telling my great-grandchildren about the legend of the Waterworld Limited Edition, and suddenly I hear a clink at the holo-door. I'll look, and there it is, in all of it's shining glory! Then, I'll slowly open up the box, only to realize that it's the wrong set...

Don't you mean all that will be left will be Kevin Costner's floating teeth?

There'll be no water on the cover.

It actually will be just Dennis Hopper's teeth there on black background and title "World" in bold white lettering.

What's LLL's stance on tracked music? Usually, it's composer's intent+recorded alternates, but with stuff like HP, there's a ton of really iconic and important moments that were actually tracked.

-Diagon Alley tracked with Entry to the Great Hall sped up (a lot of Amazon reviews give crap to the OST for not including this)

-Ending of Lonely First Night tracked with Hedwig's Time Trasition(?) (I can't stand the recorded version with the bells version of Hogwarts Forever)

-Entering the Diary, a great reactive piece

-half of Reel 7 of CoS, including essentials like The Opening Sink, Entering the Chamber, I Am Lord Voldemort, and Riddle's Demise

Any of these would be important to a complete presentation, since they are iconic and underscore important moments in the films. Stuff like Petrified Longbottom, Harry is a Parselmouth, all the confusing underfluff of Harry and Riddle's conversation in the chamber, are more easily loseable.

Tracked, or rearranged and rerecorded?

This!

Anyway, I don't see much of a point of repeating material already found on an album elsewhere, just because it underscored an important scene in the film so "it should be there". Not only is it a waste of CD space, but the reasoning behind their inclusion just doesn't make much sense to me. Because it "fills narrative holes", so to speak? It's done in an artificial way. Not interested.

Plus, I'm sure even if a composer participated himself in the selection of the tracked music, he would be against its inclusion on complete release (since, given the chance, I'm sure the composer would have preferred writing a new piece of music instead of simply reusing one). A cue is written specifically for a scene: the composer wrote it with that scene in mind, he wrote it in a such a way that it would match the emotion found within that scene, and that it would musically convey the narrative of that scene. Put that cue in another context, and you rob it of its meaning.

All this to say: no, tracked music doesn't belong on complete releases!

Have to admit, that one did manage to get pretty ingrained in my memory.
