#SnowyVernalSpringsEternal 10,265
Odd, but I don't see The Sting in his IMDB profile, nor The French Connection.
Wojo 2,453
Nor I. He may not have been directly involved, but he helped found Zanuck-Brown Productions. If they were responsible for both films, it was through people named neither Zanuck nor Brown.
JoeinAR 1,949
Odd, but I don't see The Sting in his IMDB profile, nor The French Connection.that is odd, but it is Imdb, almost alway correct ALMOST.
Morlock 11
I was sure he was producer on The Sting, too. Odd indeed. He made some terrific films and was a terrific storyteller.
artyjeffrey 20
I remember hearing him talk about The Sting too during the making-of doc from the dvd release...EDIT-Did a little investigating. According to the book "The Jaws Log," by Carl Gottlieb:"It's my considered opinion that Richard Zanuck knows as much about the business of making movies as anyone alive today, and more than most any other executive currently heading a major studio or distributorship. He and David are responsible for a long string of popular and entertaining films that include Fox hits like "Sound of Music," "French Connection," "Patton," and "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," and when they moved to Universal, they gave that studio its first Best Picture Oscar in 45 years, with "The Sting" on which they served as Executive Producers." Corellian2019 383
Yes, in fact the producers for The Sting were Julia and Michael Phillips, who would later go on to collaborate w/ Steven Spielberg on Close Encounters.
Naïve Old Fart 9,493
Not only did he help to bring "Jaws" to the screen, he also introduced the movie-going public to S. Spielberg, esq., with "The Sugarland Express", a fine debut, by any standards. Rest Peacefully, Mr. Brown.
