“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” said Alan Horn, Chairman, The Walt Disney Studios, in a news release. “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Williams isn't confirmed yet, just Spielberg and Ford.

Williams not mentioned, no. But it seems inconceivable to me that Williams wouldn't do it, health and schedule permitting. At any rate, even IF he were unable to score the film -- for whatever reason -- I can't imagine his themes not being used.

(Nonetheless, does this thread belong in General Discussion until such time as Williams is actually involved? If so, an Admin is welcome to move it!)

Spielberg and Ford? Excellent! Bring it on!

Just give me a movie with less stupid stuff than the last one (nor ANY aliens!).

Coming up with an acceptable Indiana Jones story is not rocket science. I won't ask for "earth-shatteringly brilliant" here.

I'd settle for adequate and fun.

Williams hasn't been announced to return. Therefore it rightfully belongs in GD. ;)

Wait - the John Takis thread wasn't posted in General Discussion???

Boycotted!

There are few octogenarians in history that have had this many people collectively praying for their health.

Come on Johnny, just keep your health for a bit longer!

Williams will be 87 in 2019, same age as Morricone now, who is still actively composing. That's my benchmark, and recent footage of Williams shows him in good shape.

I hope this does not conflict with star wars score wise.

I would grieve if williams had to pass either.

I think SW9 is currently a summer release but I wouldn't be surprised if that is moved to Winter like the other two.

Indy 5 will probably be a summer release.

Hopefully there won't be a conflict for Williams.

Oh yes, it's more than possible that he will be able to score the movie. It's just kinda funny how a million geeks are crossing their fingers as one.

With all these franchise films, my hope for 'smaller' scores for 'smaller films' by Williams seems to be squashed. But hey -- another INDY! Can't wait!

WIll any Summer 2019 films shuffle around because of this?

Here's how summer 2019 looks as  of right now:

April 5 - Shazam (DC Comics)

April 19  - Fast and Furious 9 (Universal)

May 3 - Avengers 4 (Disney)

May 24 - Star Wars 9 (Disney)

June 14 - Justice League 2 (DC Comics)

June 21 - The Incredibles 2 (Disney)

June 28 - Transformers  6 (Paramount)

July 12 - The Inhumans (Disney)

July 19 - Indiana Jones 5 (Disney)

I can't imagine Disney will keep ALL of that scheduled for the same summer.

Probably they'll move Episode 9 to December, and The Inhumans to August or October?

That.... is indeed rather a bit overkill.

Are there any other Disney films scheduled in 2019?

The Hollywood Reporter article states that Lucas has no input whatsoever in this film. Bloody good news and, as said earlier, there's no excuses for Spielberg now.

No stupid aliens, titles or ideas. I'm also expecting much less obvious, unnecessary CGI than KOTCS (the CGI foliage in the jungle chase has aged horrifically, if it ever looked good).

Lucas sold the entire Lucasfilm catalogue. He is out from every project forever.

It would be great if they did Willow sequels, but only in the case that they follow up Lucas story from the Shadow War trilogy novels
