Richard Penna 3,662 Posted February 6, 2013 Share Posted February 6, 2013 Yeah I'd agree that this is the most unpredictable one for many years.And while you could argue that Williams will win because Lincoln will dominate, you might also get the music treated as a token vote (either to Life of Pi/Argo instead of best picture, or to Skyfall so that it receives something).I'm rooting for Skyfall because I want Newman to receive a long overdue oscar, and the music works fantastically in the film.But in the real world, I don't give a sh*t Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Newman has done better work that should have netted him an Oscar or 2 already for best score.Even Adele's song is below the standards set for Bond songs.But then 2 of the btter scores this year weren't even nominated so who knows what surprises await. But it's ultimately nothing special and certainly not best of the year.Life of Pi has the strongest chance of taking the Oscar home for Best Original Score. While I think Skyfall is an effective score with the film, listening to it on its own becomes a bit tedious because so much of it is given to rhythm loops that our beloved JW avoids like the plague.
