Celluloid Tunes # 82: The 10 Best Scores of 2023 (ENG)

Thor

Recommended Posts

Wow, I somehow missed that Moby scored a film. Crazy.

Yeah, he's composed a lot of music that's been used in films (in fact, he has that thing where he's composed a ton of tracks that he's allowed anyone to use for free -- some of them available on the album I LIKE TO SCORE), but not a lot in terms of original scores.

Oh, and there's an exclusive piece of news in it -- Elfman is apparently writing a piano quartet for the Berlin Philharmonic.

love that the program starts with not Justin Hurwitz but my favorite song from La La Land.  Even if the performer of the song is a little iffy.

Ooooh, but the song is followed up with a performance of the "Finale" score cue.  I love it!  Best cue of the film.

Sitting on the train to Oslo with this episode on my ear. :) Is it possible to find more of the original music for From the Earth to the Moon legally, and did Kamen write more than the Main Title and End Credits?

My pocket review (in English) of COBRA KAI (Zach Robinson & Leo Birenberg):

By the way, I'll try to put in all our reviews in this thread from now on, but only change headline when there's a new webcast episode. Unless there are existing threads for the film/tv/score in question (which there curiously wasn't in this case). We already have reviews of NOSTALGIA, CARGO and COBRA KAI in English already, plus many in Norwegian: http://celluloidtunes.no/category/artikler/soundtrack-omtaler/

Nope. As I say in the introduction, I've omitted alien invasion-type films as you then open up to a whole other genre, really. This is only about natural distasters, or man-made objects gone wrong.
