Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (M:I 5) by Joe Kraemer!

The second MI film is hands down the worst. The first is a pretty entertaining movie and feels like it came out forever ago. The 3rd and 4th are definitely worth the watch, IMHO, with the latter being a bit better.

It is, but the least entertaining, in my opinion.

It's De Palma doing blockbuster action with a decent script. How can that be not entertaining?

It's entertaining, but the least entertaining of the three that I've seen. Call me a 90s kid, but how can you not love the over-the-top John Woo?

It was way too Bruckheimer/Bay-ish to me. And I hated the score.

Exactly how I feel. Either way I was excited for the score. A true win/win!

This frees up Gia to score some currently unassigned Q4 2015 film, too.

Don't know Kraemer, but I'm disappointed that Giacchino isn't doing it. I think Ghost Protocol is one of his best.

I'll just have to hope that he gets to to a real Bond score someday.

Joe Kraemer gets the scoring gig over Giacchino

I just visited Joe Kraemers website (who seems to be very fond of JW) and the surprising thing was his post about JW turning down an offer to score Jack Reacher...

The whole score is excellent.

It is good, but the initial PR description might be slightly misleading - it's a far more subtle work than they described.

I've not seen the complete film yet, apart from the opening sequence. But the score worked great in this one.

By the way... i enjoyed the Jack reacher score and really look forward to Joe Kraemers MI-5 score. I feel like he could deliver something more profound and fresh than Giacchinos previous efforts.

John Williams is too elitist to score a poorly scripted, erratically acted genre flick.

Oh, wait.

It's also interesting because Kraemer scored McQuarrie's first picture, The Way of the Gun.

So you really think JW watched the film before he turned it down? You are way too optimistic. I like Tom Cruise taste in music, he seems to have enjoyed his two JW scores.

He strikes me as more of a Tangerine Dream type of guy.

You're right. Williams's elitism is more knee-jerk.

Can I just say: I've had lunch with Joe twice, and conversed with him over email a bunch. He's a great guy. Couldn't be happier for him right now.

Good thing Kraemer got an early start

It's funny, if they had selected Giacchino over Kraemer, Giacchino would have to back out now anyway, due to his commitments to Inside Out, Jurassic World, and Tomorrowland all opening around the same time as the new date for MI5
