What kind of TV do you own?

It's only noticeable when the screen is white, but then there's the slight blur of Destiny's HUD forever staring back at me.

Before my Panny plasma went pop a couple of years back it was fine with gaming and static images for hours on end. I used to use it as a PC monitor and it wouldn't show the task bar and Start menu afterwards like the LCD ones would in school. One time I accidentally left the Wall-E blu-ray in overnight and the main menu was onscreen for about 8 hours, I bloody shit myself the following morning! There was indeed screen burn present and I was momentarily gutted; because the next day it was completely gone.

Only the cheaper and older plasma screens were prone to image retention.

My TV is less than 2 years old and certainly wasn't cheap, and it is prone to image retention. Don't know what else to say. Maybe it's because I played Destiny for hours on end during it's launch month without watching or playing anything else in between. Killzone: Shadow Fall's HUD was in there for a little bit but would subside after awhile when using the screen wipe feature. I left that on for hours trying to get rid of Destiny and nothing changed, so I've come to accept it as a fault of the technology.

No. You were younger.

The HDMI port on my WEGA isn't working. I'm so distraught. I'm about to take it apart, but it seems like the entire TV needs to be disassembled to get at it. It looks like the little connectors are bent? WTF.

I wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self that he will one day own a Sony Trinitron WEGA from 2005 with a malfunctioning HDMI port, and make sure I would have the skills necessary to make the repairs.

Well, everything else works. I guess it's time to acquire a DVD player, preferably the first progressive scan model, and reacquire all the SE Star Trek DVDs!

3D is the future of TV. But some people think the future means the end of history. Well we haven't run out of history quite yet.

Your father called the future... the "undiscovered pixels". People can be very frightened of change.

It only looked that way because technology was limited. It's like saying ...

On the day we first met, we sat down together at a coffee shop, and she wanted to know what movies were opening this year. So I got my phone out to watch some trailers I'd saved. But little did I realise that I still had a porn video open that I'd saved, so she saw like half a second of that. Natually I panicked inside, as she identified what it obviously was immediately and to my surprise, she found me mesmerising for the entire day and onward -- because I kept porn on my phone, we both liked the same schlocky movies and a certain hotel tycoon running for office.

You can't make this up. Being around her was like being IN a porn video!
