BUT...the film is rather terrible, maybe Ron Howard's worst. There's some lush cinematography -- both in the Ireland and USA sequences -- that is wortwhile, but otherwise it's just an embarassingly shallow melodrama with one of Tom Cruise's most ridiculous performances ever, including an hilarious "Irish" accent. It is indeed a very bad film. Maybe one of the worst JW has ever scored. EDIT Why am I ALWAYS starting a new page?! bollemanneke

I guess you haven't watched many very bad films? (this goes for @Thor too) heartbeeps is a very bad film. (and even that it's watchable to me ) Far and Away is very entertaining. Heartbeeps, Monsignor, Spacecamp, Far & Away, Rosewood and Midway are all very weak films with music by John Williams.
Gurkensalat 336
I find Rosewood not a weak film, I like it quite a bit. A kind of Schindlers List on diet for Blacks (SL being the superior film). filmmusic
Naïve Old Fart 9,493
As far as I'm aware, ROSEWOOD never had a UK cinema release , and I've never seen it on VHS, let alone DVD, or Blu, at least not in the UK. Even THE ACCIDENTAL TOURIST was only shown on one screen - the Odeon, Panton St.
Thor 7,463
Doesn't ROSEWOOD have a BR release now? The film is very heavy-handed, stereotypical and maudlin on occasion, but not outright "bad". Williams' score and the cinematography are probably the best things about it. With a few later exceptions, Williams' worst films are almost all in the 50s and 60s. JOHN GOLDFARB being the bottom of the barrell of his entire career. Much, much worse than FAR & AWAY. Naïve Old Fart and Not Mr. Big
Naïve Old Fart 9,493
Hey, Thor, did you ever make it to Germany, a few years back, for a one-off 70mm, 6-track stereo, Sensurround presentation of EARTHQUAKE? I'd love to have been there.
