Marian is right. TESB is an '80s score.

And I think most members agree that the JW subforum was a good idea.

That is their opinion. I have mine.

I've always felt there should be as few sub forums as possible. I know Jason loves them to death. Maybe because he has aspergers or OCD, maybe because it makes the job of Moderator easier for him. But rigid categorization is the death of conversation IMO, which is what this place has always been about.

And having topics about John Williams showed of to a separate forum, instead of General Discussion, traditionally the heart of this place is simply wrong, Ricard.

General Discussion should only be about John Williams. Then we have an Everything Else subforum for just that. And then we have Other Topics. I don't know why it can't be stated any more clearly.

There are NO 1980's scores in this poll. I will include those in my next poll...about the 80's.

E.T. for me but ESB will win, it always wins.

Wouldn't it have been Jaws Out of the Darkness? Oh I see what you did there.

2. The Towering Inferno

I'm mildly embarrassed to say I haven't heard probably half of these.

This is the only one of your list of five I haven't heard, because I never saw the film and the soundtrack hasn't been re-released affordably since I started collecting from the niche labels.

It would be easy to pick Star Wars, but this time I won't. I choose Superman The Movie.

One of the correct choices.

Too many great works to choose from. My favorite score is different every day so today I vote for Jaws 2 because it's a brilliant and often overlooked score that had no vote yet.

I'm going to be different and say "1941"...mainly because I'm still digesting my somewhat recent purchase of the La La Land release.

I love many of the others from the 70's just as much...but got to show some love for "1941".

Why is "Jane Eyre" at the bottom of the list, and anyway, where's "Thomas And The King"?

There are NO 1980's scores in this poll. I will include those in my next poll...about the 80's.

"1941" was released in Europe in 1980, so... :P

My top 5 JW 70s scores:

1. Jane Eyre

2. The Towering Inferno

3. Star Wars

4. The Fury

5. Black Sunday

I'm mildly embarrassed to say I haven't heard probably half of these.

Then why did you vote for them?

I meant I haven't heard half of his 1970s scores, not half of the ones I've selected.

Simple enough question, which is your favorite.

I did not include Fiddler and Pete & Tillie.

...or "The Reivers".

The Reivers is 1969.

In that case, "TESB" is a 70s score, it being written, and partly recorded, in 1979, so... :P

We consider the scores by US release date. As in imdb!

The Reivers could have been a 70s score, had it been released 5 days later! :biglaugh:

What are the incorrect choices?

anything not Cowboys, Towering Inferno, Jaws, Star Wars, Close Encounters, 1941, Superman.

According to Joey's legislation, if anyone chose a score that he deems incorrect, they will be severely punished!

Is scorn punishment? I haven't called for torture or beheadings.

1941 is a score in need of a lot of ass kissing on this board. It's so fantastic.

Posters here should be saying to 1941....I didn't know. I DIDN'T KNOW!
