To commemorate the 50th anniversary of The Sound Of Music, the iconic film adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein's acclaimed musical, Legacy Recordings will celebrate this milestone with a special 50th Anniversary Edition CD featuring the definitive version of the film's soundtrack, remastered and expanded to feature previously unreleased score cues and all vocal performances for the first time in one release.

This package will also include new introductory notes from Julie Andrews and Theodore S. Chapin, the president and executive director of Rodgers & Hammerstein; rare photos and illustrations from the film; and liner notes written by Laurence Malson, author of The Sound Of Music Companion

Another version. . . ?

Don't get me wrong. This is my favorite classic musical. But there are already so many versions out there. I have to wonder how much this will add to the mix, and if it'll make it worth picking up.

My parents brought me ton the theater on opening day. Great experience.

It must been a moment that weighed heavily on you in your developing years.

Psst. "ton"

:sarcasm:

There is also a BluRay release coming out at the same time that looks like may feature this CD set. May pick it up since I don't even own this film on BluRay yet.

I wonder if the new soundtrack release will have vocal-less versions of the songs? Now that would be awesome.

Actually, on second thought, I'd be all over "Climb Every Mountain". ;)

Darn it. I wanted the rip apart the anthem song.

Has it really been fifty years for this film?

Indeed. How time flies...

This was the very first film I ever saw. My parents brought me ton the theater on opening day. Great experience.

You are over 50 years old???

You're an ageist!!
