"Soundings" PBS 2003

I remember in October 2003 the Los Angeles Philharmonic opened their new venue, Disney Hall, with a concert that aired on PBS' Great Performances. I never saw the program in its entirety because I forgot to program my VCR and arrived home while it was almost over. Yes, I was still using a VCR in 2003. I do not remember if it included a performance of JW's "Soundings" in its entirety but that piece has yet to be recorded as far as I know. There is a lot of PBS stuff on YouTube but I can't find a note of "Soundings" anywhere.

The opening gala was broadcast on radio, and this recording is circulating on the 'black market'. But you're right -- no commercial recording has been made of this wonderful piece. It's a real shame.

So was this John Williams first work for Disney?

Technically no since john Williams completists would know that he wrote the musical chimes that tell you to get to your seat BEFORE the concert starts (and when intermission ends) so this musical phrase happened before Soundings or anything else was heard. :-p
