The Force Awakens Disney Records OST

I wonder if the soundtrack has been locked already or do they wait for the ending of the sessions to add stuff in.

Still manufacturing and shipping this stuff all over the world takes time so I would assume the thing is already locked and loaded.

With Williams that is certainly not a given. He chooses his listening experience carefully, latest versions be damned!

I wonder if the actual OST cover will say "Music Composed and Conducted by John Williams" or just "Music By John Williams", since he didn't conduct it all. I know he didn't conduct all of Jurassic Park either, but that doesn't necessary mean the same practice will be followed on this production now than was with that production 22 years ago.

Well I hope a "Music Composed and Conducted by John Williams" mention on the cover, and a co-conducted credit of William Ross in the liner notes.

It's like Lincoln, on the cover it tells the music is conducted by John Williams, that's true, even if he's co-conducting with Duain Wolfe.

I don't think we have to know which parts where conducted by who!

How is that xenophobia?

xenophobia

zɛnəˈfəʊbɪə/

noun

dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries.

"racism and xenophobia are steadily growing in Europe"

synonyms: racism, racialism, racial hatred, ethnocentrism, ethnocentricity;

In some case I suppose it would make a difference

Imagine "The Final Duel" from RotJ conducted by someone else...would the balance of the choir and orchestra be as perfect?

That balance is decided more while they are mixing the score rather then during the performance.

Do we know the orchestra and choir were recorded together or separately on ROTJ?

They were recorded together, as far as I know.

Nice..! But the artwork won't be in line with the PT soundtracks I think since that trilogy is being treated as radioactive since the production of TFA, especially after JJ came on board.......

I wonder if they'll use a different image for the score cover. (preferably something like the recently released Imax poster, rather than promo images of the characters, like with the AOTC alternate releases)

Yup! Good composition, but the real one definitely won't use the prequel font for "Star Wars", and it will just say "The Force Awakens" not "Episode VII: The Force Awakens"

And then Disney will copy it and pass it as their final CD cover like it happened with those previous JW scores. ;)

I am famous for spelling it out. Just in case some of the newer members missed it.

So which theme serves as the finale for TFA? So far we've had:

  1. The Emperor's Theme
  2. Imperial March/Across the Stars
  3. Leia's Theme/The Force Theme
  4. The Force Theme
  5. The Force Theme/Han Solo & The Princess
  6. Victory Celebration (a theme that only appears in the finale... in both versions).

Force Theme seems the obvious choice but I'd love it to be a rousing, romantic rendition of one of his new themes. The finale cue of all 6 films is usually the highlight for any Williams' Star Wars score (well... except that Naboo Municipal Band... thing). He single handedly salvaged the climax for AOTC and, although mostly unreleased, his final suite of themes for ROTS is easily the strongest emotional climax for the saga.

BB8's theme of course!

For 10 minutes straight! Nothing more, nothing less!
