61 minutes long instead of the 45 we got for ST09 and STID... does this mean no Deluxe Edition is coming?

Also they list a release date of July 29 instead of 22 now.

I wonder if the score overall is shorter than ST09 and STIDS

I wonder if he recorded any concert arrangements this time, like for STID and Jurassic World

I got an Amazon alert for my preorder that the release date had changed from 7/22 to 7/29.  I wonder why it's being released a week after the movie.  Could it be a manufacturing delay?

And from the looks of things no full end credits sequence again either.

Darn. And I really hope "Star Trek Main Theme" is different from what we've gotten before from Giacchino in the end credits, but I fear that it's the same thing.

Varese has tweeted out the very terrible cover art

I hope it changes

After the IMO terrific covers for the first two, we get this. :( Well, it's just cover art.

This time round, I don't think I get any of those track name puns.

I get some of them, but not all.

I know the puns on Giacchino's OSTs annoy some people, but I rather enjoy them.

Well the digital release is still on the 22nd so we'll still get to hear it before the film.

Just because you don't like Giacchino doesn't mean no one else does either. Why are you in this thread if you have no interest in the score?

What the fuck are you talking about?

I'm a lifelong Trekkie and have more right to post here then anyone.

Stop trying to impose your own personal code on people, especially me. I will post wherever I like.

And stop claiming I dislike Giacchino.

You have a habit of proclaiming many things as great or brilliant, while they are in fact quite pedestrian.

Oh well

By the way, I like the cover art. But why do we need this massive "beyond" in the middle of it?

Karol

That doesn't work because the word Beyond is there twice. So is it Star Trek Beyond Beyond?

While that may be it has nothing to do with your contradictory statements on Giacchino. You consistently call him mediocre but then tell Jay to stop claiming that you don't like him. Just sends a mixed message is all. My situation would be comparable if I called said things brilliant but then told people to stop claiming that I like them.

Hmm. Film looks weird.

Definitely not an interesting score cue.

Looking forward to the album. 9 days till digital release!

Yeah just standard dialogue underscore. I'm cautiously optimistic about this movie actually! With the TV series starting next year I'm comfortable with these being visually stimulating action spectacles (which despite its story problems, Into Darkness definitely was).

Yes STID is an aptly directed film with keen action sequences. It just suffers from a bad script

The early reactions to the movie have been very positive.

I can't wait to hear the cue this tweet is referring to!

STAR TREK BEYOND: slick, self-contained & has the best music cue of any blockbuster this yr. by 2016 standards, it’s the sistine chapel.

It's not clear if he's referring to a Giacchino score cue, or an existing pop piece with that comment.  If its a score cue, I hope its on the OST!

I feel like we aren't guaranteed a Deluxe Edition this time...

I don't see any reason to be nervous about this or to even speculate at this time. It's true, we weren't guaranteed either of the previous two, but it's not like Paramount's stance on Star Trek music or digital releases for that matter has changed any. And sure, the STID DE is still in print, but that doesn't at all mean it was an unsuccessful release... Unless you're saying someone in the business has actually come out and called this release unsuccessful?

Why not? Every single Star Trek film got an expanded/complete release.

Because the first 2 scores got 45 minute OST releases, while this OST is 61 minutes.  Plus, the STID DE didn't sell very well.

I like the mood, nice mystery/suspense build.

You know, it's not bad.  It's somewhat reminiscent of TMP which is always a good thing.  But when it starts to get wilder it's just the usual Giacchino shtick....
