John's lies continue to unravel. He never wanted to record with the LSO! It had nothing to do with the staggered recording schedule!

Also, CONGRATULATIONS! JW looks as lively and sprightly as ever, moreso than he did 3 years ago in those Book Thief interviews.

Congratulations to the Maestro for this honour. It was nice to see him acknowledging the musicians and all the great people who work in the film scoring industry as well. :)

He spoke about it in an L.A. Times interview last December. It did had to do with the recording schedule:

Quote

[ Williams] noted that he’s recorded every previous Star Wars score with the London Symphony Orchestra, and the one caveat he gave Abrams was that he didn’t want to go to London this time around. He was “delighted” to accept the gig once he learned he could record in Los Angeles.

“First of all, the orchestra’s wonderful here. My relationship with the London Symphony goes way, way back, and it’s a fabulous orchestra.”

…but the schedule for this film had him begin recording last June, and then holding a number of sessions sporadically through November. It would have been “awkward” to stay in London.

I like how he praise the quality of the studio players in LA. Too bad they are claimed to be bad here in this great forum. And we know!

Still...Congratulations!! I hope he'll do the the next SW and with this great orchestra!!!!

The only ones around here saying that at this point are doing do ironically.  Elsewhere, the only people who think it was a poor performance are some know-nothing youtube commenters that have a subconscious bias against non-LSO orchestras.
