No Time To Die (James Bond #25)

Looks like Lashana Lynch will be an agent with the code 007, not the new “James Bond” as angry men on twitter will tell you.

There has already been a female 00.

If Bond is retired, it's entirely possible that the number 007 could pass to a woman.

BTW, how many times has bond been killed/retired/resigned?

YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE - "killed"

ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE - resigns, and retires

LICENCE TO KILL - enforced resignation

DIE ANOTHER DAY - left for dead

CASINO ROYALE - resigned

SKYFALL - missing, presumed dead

SPECTRE - resigned

It's all getting a bit old.

As if the concept of a "female Bond" was anything new.

Anya Amasova, the agent in Licence To Kill whose name I can't remember, Wai Lin, Jynx, etc.

But 20th century feminazism has killed other fun things, so why not James Bond?

After it inevitably fails, and sexism is properly blamed, maybe we can reboot James Bond, too. Maybe with proper composers again.

She’s not replacing James Bond, she has simply taken the 007 number as he has “retired”. She’s just a female agent, they do exist you know.

Yes, that's the point of my post, so not sure why you remind me.

Bond retiring and that girl taking his number is just such a good metaphor for feminazism, though. Moderate feminism used to be about both genders coexisting equally, whereas modern feminazism is all about "we are taking this over now because you are bad, we are better, and you won't get it back".

That's also the difference between said female agents in previous films, and that crap above.

It’s not that deep....

- Codenames are interchangeable.

- James Bond is still James Bond.

- No one really knows the ins and outs of the plot yet.

Part of me hopes the film will ends with Craig’s Bond dying, and then Lashana Lynch and M are sitting in an office at the end when he turns to her and says, I have a new mission for you Miss. Bond *roll credits*

Just imagine the carnage if they did that.

This is again the pits of race-baiting pandering bs.

It's an empty switcheroo because a black woman is 007 for all of 5 minutes before James Bond comes along and takes over the mantel again.

They do not get credit for this.

If they truly have balls, they will make the black woman the 007 for the entire film and focus the film around her.

It's the same deal as Marvel giving Cap's shield to a black man at the end of the Avengers. They do not get credit for this. I will buy it only when they make a major big budget motion picture with mackie as Cap. A TV show doesn't quite cut it.

The degree to which the public falls for such cheap ploys is nauseating.

How about a comic in 2015? ;)

You've adopted this silly speech impediment every time social equality or progressive thinking comes up here because progressive attitudes actually bother you, you feel inconvenienced and even threatened by the social revolutions taking place at the moment in our parts of the world and so your backwards coping mechanisms are kicking in and reacting in the only way you know how: to ridicule it. It's awfully childish.

They relocated M, and look where she ended up living.

Heh, yes ... John Barry's old London flat. A nice little 'nod' that, and yet another example of why Skyfall is a far superior anniversary-marking Bond film than Die Another Day.

56 years on, the train fight still thrills. Not surprised they didn't go with the book's ending to it, though (Bond stabbing Grant in his femoral artery with the attache-case knife).

Didn't he do that, in QOS?

Bond basically dies at the end of the book.
