Casino Royale and QOS are connected, the first time in the franchise history that one film is a direct sequel to another. Then Skyfall is a completely separate story. Then SPECTRE feels the need to connect all 4 films made up to that point. Essentially imitating Marvel and making a sort of James Bond Cinematic Universe.

But I doubt it's something they really continue with.

You don't get it. The actor has to be British!

Anyway, I've been thinking about something, recently: correct me if I'm wrong, but the Craig era was the first time they told a continuous story over multiple films, so assuming they change the actor for Bond but keep the rest of the cast (Fiennes as M, Whishaw as Q, etc.), I wonder how they'll deal with the previous films.

As I see it, there are four possibilities:

1) They'll continue the story as if the new actor played the exact same character Craig did (so there could be references to Vesper, SPECTRE, etc.).

2) They'll continue the story but the new actor will actually play a replacement for Craig's 007, who decides to retire (or maybe ends up being killed in action!).

3) They'll "reboot" the franchise to tell another continuous story.

4) They'll "reboot" the franchise and go back to the "one-off" stories style.

I wonder which solution they'll choose. Personally, I'd say they shouldn't continue the story told in SPECTRE. The four Craig movies told a complete story (even if not completely satisfying) and there's no real need to continue developing that one.

If the intention is to have Fiennes, Whishaw and Harris continue as M, Q and Moneypenny (and I believe it is), it's that that would make the casting of a black actor as Bond particularly weird for me. Granted, it might be a little odd that they don't think it notable that Bond's appearance has changed (if Fassbender, Hardy or Hiddleston was cast for example) ... but for none of them to even bat an eyelid at the fact that his ethnicity has completely changed?

Racist!

Hehehe ... it's like the online friend who I had who was genuinely disappointed when Capaldi was cast as the Doctor. Not because she disliked him or was a fan of the show (quite the opposite, in fact) ... because she thought that a female Doctor would've been another 'progressive' box ticked :sarcasm:.

Wasn't that sorry when she deleted and blocked me on Facebook, if I'm honest.

I disagree with the Koray. IMO, Cavill doesn't have much charisma either (and I've seen MOS and UNCLE). Plus, he's way too boyish and clean-cut. I like a more rugged Bond like Craig.
