My Introduction

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone, greetings from the Bay Area!  My name is Paul, and I fell in love with the music of John Williams at a young age, even before I knew who wrote it.  I am in high school now, and am trying to compose my own music.  I would appreciate it if you guys gave me some help picking the software I use to make music.

Favorite Scores: All Star Wars; 1. Empire Strikes Back, 2. A New Hope, 3. Return of the Jedi, 4 The Phantom Menace, 5. Attack of the Clones, 6. Revenge of the Sith.  Also the first 3 Indiana Jones movies, the first 3 Harry Potter movies, Jaws, E.T, and Jurassic Park.

Thanks to everyone who gives advice of the software.

Welcome to JWFan!

Regarding software: I use Finale 2014.5 for composition, but if I need to make a good-sounding mockup I head over to Cubase 8 where I use EWQL and Orchestral Tools libraries...

Does anyone here use a pencil, paper and a maybe piano?

You know, the proper way to compose? How it was done for hundreds of years.

I do that too, but I can't play other instruments besides the piano on the piano :)

I do. So do many others here.

But production is a different process. For those of us who can't afford orchestras, technology is a necessity!

Bay of Pigs. I used to live there, you know.

You're gonna die there, you know. Convenient. ;)

"Rent" was awful! I prefer "Lease".

There aren't that many movies about CC, are there?

BTW; welcome, dude! :)
