Popular Post Thor 7,384
A bit frustrating to me that almost all threads about LOST IN SPACE are about particular releases, complete stuff, missing cues, 40th anniversary etc. No thread that just wants to talk about the series and music in general. So I ressurected this. Jay, feel free to merge it with any of the others if you feel that is more appropriate. In any case, just wanted to share this video that I was recently alerted to over on FSM. The conductor says in the beginning that LIS was one of the first TV shows Williams worked on, which is obviously wrong. It was in the latter bits of his TV career. Be that as it may, it's still cool to hear the two themes live: Naïve Old Fart, Not Mr. Big, Will and 1 other
Naïve Old Fart 9,443
I watched LIS in the '60s, and I enjoyed it. I still do. For all the heroics in the second theme, I prefer the Main Title from series one: it has an air of real menace, about it. As for what Apollo 440 did to the score, well... Not Mr. Big 4,621
That was great! I'd love to see Williams do "groovy sci-fi" again (fingers crossed for Episode VIII) Will

Gruesome Son of a Bitch 6,488
Awesome! I feel like the Lost in Space scores have only a cult following around these parts.
TownerFan 4,983
This is great. I wonder if, given Williams' relationship with Kunzel and the Cinci Pops in the past, the Maestro himself provided the sheets. It would be insanely cool to have a mini-suite including The Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants as well.
Will 2,215
Cool!
Unlucky Bastard 7,782
I only ever listen to suites or short OSTs these days anyway.

Maybe not a cult following, but I'm pretty sure that a lot of JWfaners have never heard the scores - outside the titles, that is - which is s a shame. King Mark 3,615
The second season theme is the "real" theme to me. It's actually an expansion of the theme opening " Smith's Entrance" in the pilot episode The Reluctant Stowaway, and the "cliffhanger" music at the end of the Williams scored episodes
Will 2,215
Got these themes running through my head right now. So catchy! Love the low brass "answers" in the second theme of the video, like here:
Billy 0
Does anyone know where the scores from the original series (along with Time Tunnel and Land of the Giants) are? UCLA has Irwin Allen's archives. I'm not sure who "owned" the music from the series.
