Jay 37,350
How in the bloody hell does Anthony Hopkins not get nominated for Westworld? Or Jeffrey Wright? Or Ed Harris? Funny that Evan Rachel Wood got main acting and Thandie Newton got supporting acting, because Thandie was actually in every episode and Wood wasn't, and might have actually had more screen time overall, too I literally haven't heard a note of any of the best score nominees. How about that.
KK 3,307
Hopkins definitely deserved a nomination. Haven't seen the other performances in that category. I only haven't heard Hidden Figures from the original score nominees. Arrival is definitely the best of the bunch. La La Lnd will win that category though. Jay 37,350
Did Martin Scorsese's Silence get completely snubbed, OR is it going to be part of NEXT year's Golden Globes?
mrbellamy 6,278
Snubbed, but it's possible they didn't see it because it only started screening in the last week or two. Wouldn't qualify for next year.

KK 3,307
It wasn't going to win anything anyway, and it'll get its due recognition at Oscars.
Naïve Old Fart 9,515
I'd liked to have seen Adam Driver nominated.
Alex 2,835
Sometimes I wonder whether whoever nominates these scores even bothers to listen to them, or any other score for that matter

Most bizarre music nominations list I've seen in years. I also haven't heard a note of any of them. And when you're contemplating giving Pharrell Williams a score oscar... something has gone disastrously wrong. If the oscars look like this, it's likely that I'll my 'toss given' will be in the negative.
Alex 2,835
Surprised no Desplat nomination. He's has a pretty solid year. Thought Florence Foster Jenkins or The Light Between Oceans maybe would have snuck in. Of course The BFG is superior to all those scores. 😏 crumbs
Richard Penna 3,685
I haven't heard more than 5 minute of BFG. It's been a pretty forgettable year for scores for me. Or it was until Fantastic Beasts.
KK 3,307
Are the score nominations really that bizarre? They're actually pretty predictable, given the films they're attached. Arrival is the only that really deserves to be on that list, and maybe La La Land, but that's probably only because it's been a pretty weak year for film music. Since Giacchino's excellent 2015, TFA and the return of Morricone, it's all gone a bit flat.

Out of the nominees I've only heard Arrival and the Hidden Figures samples, so I can't be too outraged yet, but I'm certainly disappointed High-Rise and The BFG both got ignored.
