What single cue defines your decades?

Recommended Posts

Here's mine.

1970s: Building The Cage (Jaws OST)

1980s: Adventure On Earth (E.T. OST)

1990s: Journey To The Island

2000s: The Breaking Of The Fellowship (FOTR)

2010s: (so far) Rey's Theme (The Force Awakens)

Nice thread and very tough...I assume this starts out with the "decade"/year you were born in.

80's: Battle In The Mutara Nebula (Star Trek II)

90's: Aftermath (Independence Day)

00's: Saving Superman (Superman Returns)

10's: Truckzilla (A Good Day To Die Hard)

70s Main Title from

THE TOWERING INFERNO -

the most important, and the most influential single piece of music that I have ever heard. End of.

80s ADVENTURE ON EARTH

90s MACK AND CLAIRE'S DREAM

00s I CAN'T DO THIS

10s OUTLANDS

I'm gonna stick just to Williams, to keep it simple:

70s: Throne Room and End Credits

80s: Escape/Chase/Saying Goodbye

90s: Journey to the Island

00s: Hedwig's Theme

10s: The Scavenger

I suppose I'm picking these because they are relatively iconic for the general public, deeply meaningful to me, and decently representative of Williams' styles in those decades.

I also think the decades aren't always good dividers...Williams' works from, say, '97-'07 are a little more homogeneous than just the 90s or just the 00s, for instance.

Oh crap this is what I meant by Adventure on Earth (which jarringly has the film's flying section removed).

There's Adventure On Earth, which was on the OST. There's Adventures on Earth, which is the concert piece, and there's Escape/Chase/Saying goodbye. Very similar to the OST piece. But lacking a few inserts.

The OST cue is the best.
