Also, is this an alternate co-existing timeline, or have they completely binned the other sequels like they never happened?

It's like these Termite movies all hate each other! Likely the next movie will ignore Dark Fate too.

 Priceless, Lee!

As Cameron has said, this one is a direct sequel to T:2 - no T:3, no SALVATION, no GENYSIS.

I liked the first 3 movies, thought Salvation was crap (Bale shoud've saved his on-set meltdown for a movie that was worth it) and didn't see Genysis (no bad thing, if its reputation is anything to go by).

Wouldn't surprise me if Dark Fate ends up sucking too.

My friend, you must see True Lies.  With all possible speed!  The bathroom fight scene is one of the best ever!

I was just thinking about this.  Does the amazing bathroom fight scene in Mission: Impossible - Fallout surpass the one in True Lies????  It might!

Favorite bathroom fight scene?

True Lies was the clear #1 until at least Casino Royale.  Now Fallout gives them both a run for their money I think.

Jesus Christ that list has the crappy Branagh Jack Ryan movie but not Casino Royale????? That's an iconic freakin' bathroom fight!

Although I suppose the Casino Royale is less of a fight and more of a brutal kill that takes a while.

There’s only 2 Terminator films in my timeline.

Mine too.  I never even saw 3 for some reason, even though it came out when I was 16 and saw basically every big movie.

I'm open to this one though!

I've only ever seen the first two. By the trailer alone, this film doesn't seem like that will change any time soon.

I'd watch a new Terminator film directed by Cameron in a heartbeat, on it's opening day. But all the others so far have been a let down.

He should leave that Avatar nonsense and focus his remaining years on giving Terminator a fitting conclusion.

I don't like it when artists say: "Only for Spielberg & Lucas" or "only Avatar", ... If you had enough, then quit altogether!

It already has a fitting conclusion! (T2)

Look, most of the people who like Terminator adored Sarah. If the new character is half the character Sarah is, then this film shouldn't have any problems.

I really hope that, against this, the film is actually good. The things I've been hearing, including one particularly ballsy move, are more promising than the previous films since T2, but is that going to be enough?

Edward Furlong will be reprising the role of John Connor, as announced by Cameron during the San Diego panel.

It also seems the footage shown has been well-received.

That article isn't entirely accurate. He also played him in T2:3D.

I think they mean he's not played the role in a full-blown theatrical production since T2.

I love the tagline for Genisys being "the best Terminator since Terminator 2".

That's not exactly a boastful achievement there given the two films preceeding it regardless of how you view it.

They will CGI him!

I still think the best approach to Indy IV would for them to go fully CG mo-cap. Or even better, deep fake!
