Leading this year’s list of movie-misfires are the 15-years-too-late sequel Zoolander No. 2 and the WTF comic book battle-royale Batman v Superman. Each is up for both Worst Picture and Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off or Sequel. Other Worst Picture nominees include Dirty Grandpa, Gods of Egypt, Hillary’s America and Independence Day: Resurgence. Acting contenders include Ben Affleck, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts and Robert de Niro.

“Winners” of this year’s tackiest Tinsel Town trophy will be revealed on Saturday, February 25 – the now traditional day before the 89th Annual Giving Out of the Little Gold Naked Men.

Voting Razzie Members (1,014 from 49 US States and 24 countries) selected contenders in 8 of our 9 categories. For Worst Screen Combo, they partnered again with Rotten Tomatoes where tens of thousands of users picked the nominees.

BATS VS. SUPES was bad, but it had far too many qualities to qualify for a 'razzie', IMO.

Also, I quite liked INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE. I recognize the flaws, but it still had enough of the Emmerich that I love (and of the original film, which I also love) to be a decent film. Not even CLOSE to being  a 'razzie'.

The worst films that I saw last year (i.e. the ones that I only gave one star on MUBI) are THE 5TH WAVE, THE FOREST, LAST DAYS IN THE DESERT (2015 film in origin country), WAR CRAFT: THE BEGINNING, THE LEGEND OF TARZAN, THE LAST KING, EDDIE THE EAGLE, SLACK BAY, SIERANEVADA, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE DOOR, THE HOUSE and CHI-RAQ (2015 film in origin country). All of those deserve a 'razzie' a thousand times more than ID4 2.

Not a single one of those I'd disagree with, except for the fact that there were too many deserving "nominees" to fit the slate.

I quite enjoyed Chi-Raq, and as far as derivative horror movies go, The Other Side of the Door was better than most.

But Sieranevada and Legend of Tarzan, yes, a thousand times yes.

The Razzies, like I've read somewhere before, are much more keen in "rewarding" the most infamous movies from each year rather than the actual worse movies of the year. They just like to kick them while they're down

The only ones I've seen from the nominees are Zoolander 2 (no classic admittedly, but I've seen worse) and ID : Resurgence (which I did think was pretty bad).

I can believe Dirty Grandpa is utter garbage, it certainly looks it.

Here's all the "winners"

LOS ANGELES, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Even the Razzie Awards are getting political.

A documentary criticizing U.S. Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton tied on Saturday with superhero ensemble "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" on a list of the year's worst achievements in film, winning four Razzies apiece.

The annual tongue-in-cheek Razzie awards, which serve as an antidote to Hollywood's Oscars ceremony, named Dinesh D'Souza's "Hillary's America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party" as the worst film of 2016.

D'Souza, a conservative commentator and best-selling author, was named worst actor for narrating his documentary and worst director alongside Bruce Schooley. Worst actress went to the person who portrayed Clinton in the film.

"Hillary's America" took in a modest $13 million at the North American box office last year.

The Razzies, or Golden Raspberry awards, follow a Hollywood awards season marked by outspoken speeches and protests against the policies and behavior of U.S. President Donald Trump. The season culminates with Sunday's Oscars ceremony.

"Batman v Superman" also won four Razzies, including worst screen combo for "Ben Affleck & His BFF (Baddest Foe Forever) Henry Cavill" and worst "remake, rip-off or sequel."

The annual Razzie Redeemer Award went to veteran actor-director Mel Gibson. Gibson has been welcomed back into the folds of Hollywood with his war drama "Hacksaw Ridge" a decade after a drunken anti-Semitic rant made him an outcast.

"Hacksaw Ridge" is nominated for six Oscars on Sunday, including Gibson for director.

Winners of the year's worst films are given a gold, spray-painted trophy.

Winners of the Razzies are voted for online by around 1,000 Razzie members from 24 countries, who sign up online and pay a $40 membership fee. (Reporting by Piya Sinha-Roy; Editing by Jonathan Oatis)

I've seen far worse movies than Gods of Egypt. Actually enjoyed that more than I expected.

Still an odd film though.

It's bad but it's watchable bad. In fact, it was more 'entertaining' than Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods & Kings (which is more proof that the man doesn't think very highly of the audience).

Only the last half hour of Batman v Superman should be nominated. The lead-up to the finale was actually pretty good.
