Bespin 8,480
European première? You post that news like if it was a new thing! This is an "old" work written in 1994!!! Is it another revision (the third?) or the 2014 version?
Thor 7,491
'European premiere' means it's the first time it's being performed on the European continent.

Which doesn't diminish the news that it was performed for the first time here in Europe in 2016 and now we have a video of the performance available. pete

Of course, really old news, after all the damn concert was recorded last year... But most of the people around here are having the chance to listen to this performance for the very first time, so I would call it some great news. As for being old... we obviously have different understandings of what an old thing is, but I guess I get your point. This is the final revision of the work, the same one Williams and Ma did in Houston and Deneve and Ma in Philadelphia. Unfortunately, the first one was done as a Detroit Symphony live webcast, and I don't think they ever had it on demand. Will

Seeing Yo-Yo Ma perform was one of the great experiences in my concert-going life. Even if you understand music across many instruments, it's amazing to witness the complexity of the playing when you see it tackled live. You get that extra level of appreciation for it.
