Next in line, Powell. No Americans please.

What are your thoughts on Michael Kamen's Bond score?

I'm one of that score's biggest fans I'm sure. And have been for decades now. The OST is a bit rubbish, but it's one of the oldest CD's in my collection.

Why?

My vote is Joe Kraemer.

Powell will never score one with his new stance on not scoring films where the protagonist uses violence to solve problems.  Though he came back for Bourne 4, so maybe if the money's right?

Anyone know how much he really did on Bourne 4?

I don't think there's been anything publicly stated about how much of that was (new) Powell and how much was Buckley.  I actually wondered after seeing the film if Powell didn't actually work on it at all, and Buckley wrote all the new music and arranged Powell music from the original trilogy... and then Powell's agent is good enough to get top billed.  But that's just my own random speculation, as I said I haven't seen anything stated publicly about the process.

My vote's for Newman.

I kinda feel sorry for the guy, 14 Oscar noms and he still has yet to win an Academy Award.

The guy who runs Hans Zimmer's half-official/half-fan webpage uploads composer credits for what he can get accurate info on and has consistently been quite a reliable source regarding who worked on what. On his authority, Powell worked a surprisingly large amount on Jason Bourne. Stuff like the first minute or so of Strip Chase is entirely Powell.

Spoiler
  1. I Remember Everything (2:04)
    John Powell
  2. Backdoor Breach (3:50)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  3. Converging In Athens (4:13)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  4. Motorcycle Chase (6:53)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  5. A Key To The Past (2:37)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  6. Berlin (2:02)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  7. Decrypted (5:34)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  8. Flat Assault (2:39)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  9. Paddington Plaza (6:46)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  10. White Van Plan (2:49)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  11. Las Vegas (3:48)
John Powell, David Buckley, Luke Richards
  12. Following The Target (3:29)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  13. Strip Chase (4:59)
    John Powell, David Buckley
  14. An Interesting Proposal (2:13)
    John Powell, Batu Sener
  15. Let Me Think About It (2:24)
    John Powell, Batu Sener

Regarding who does the next Bond score, I'd be happy as a clam if we could get Kraemer, but would also be quite enthused if Arnold could have one last crack at it, especially if Craig returns for one final outing. Would be poetic to have Arnold and Craig go out together.

I think the Casino Royale score is the best Craig era score by far.

Infact the main theme from that score was used so well in that score and was so fitting for the new Bond that I always thought it should have been mada a second character theme for Bond.

This franchise is in his "To do" list. :P

Giacchino needs another shot at a Star Wars score. His music for Rogue One was clearly rushed and largely unmemorable.

With more time, he could really make a great Star Wars soundtrack.

JNH, because his Salt score was fun, especially how he used the orchestration to mimic sirens from different emergency services. And his score for The Tourist over those helicopter shots of Venice. Very Bond.

Also Abel Korzeniowski would be good for Bond, especially when I made a video called 'What If Abel Korzeniowski Scored a James Bond Film' a while ago, and he saw it and told me that he would love to do one, but only if he could go outside the box.

And I'm always a major champion of McCreary. So always him for anything.

But I agree that if Craig returns for one last Bond, then Arnold should return for it too, because Casino Royale is the absolute best Bond Score in my opinion. Perfect marriage of score and film.

Even if Stiff will crucify me for saying this, I have to say I think Giacchino is a better match for Star Trek (well, to be more specific, nuTrek). So, please, let's have other composers get their chance to do a SW score.

You are dead to me!

No one. They should stop making these films altogether.

Look after Incanus. See that some harm comes to him.

Drax was a good villain, played by a classy actor, who was far too good for a film like MOONfuckingRAKER!

So..you don't approve of 007?

While Michael Lonsdale is quite a good actor I find it funny how he always seems to play the same character with the same sleepy intonation. Moonraker, Ronin, Name of the Rose, Munich.:P

And I don't particularly disapprove Bond but am getting a tad fatigued by the franchise. Just like I get tired of the umpteenth superhero movie or TV series they are cranking out these days.

Lonsdale's understated delivery is brilliant actually. He's underrated.
