The "window" story is a fairly famous anecdote that he's told several times. It's even in the liner notes of the soundtrack CD to FAMILY PLOT.

 

But yes, I agree with your thread topic; someone (hopefully me) SHOULD do a properly researched book on the man.

I think we already know pretty much anything there is to know about JW's life.

 

A critical book looking at his scores and music, however, would be different.

When I initially saw it was a clip about working with Hitchcock, I thought it was going to be the "Mr. Williams, murder can be fun!" story that he's told many times!
