It's believed (though not confirmed yet) that the upcoming Boston Pops CD will contain music from TFA recorded during live concerts last spring.

I'm surprised Silva didn't do any TFA recordings last year.  Guess they stopped their year-in-film series entirely?  I'm onboard with a substantially new Silva release, even if it's repackaged with a bunch of tracks I already have.

Silva have two Force Awakens Recordings on their website.

Farewell and The Trip and March of the Resistance.

Here's a playlist for a TFA 5-part suite (starting with the Star Wars "Main Title") performed by The President's Own, U.S. Marine Band:

I actually love that album, @igger6, thanks for bringing it my attention!

LOL! It's so outrageous that it's awesome. Some of the arrangements aren't great but there are some golden moments.

Glad you like it, Will!  I discovered it a couple of years ago and fell head over heels, and then they re-released it last year and sweetened the pot with "Duel of the Fates" and "Rey's Theme."  It's outrageous, and a couple of tracks are kind of obnoxious—definitely best appreciated in small doses—but for sheer commitment to a wild idea, there's no better off-the-wall Star Wars cover album out there.

I don't think this is re-recording. It's almost certainly samples.

It's very close if it isn't real.

Isn't London Music Works the Silva shorthand for tracks that are partially or completely sampled, or otherwise "poppy"?  They only performed, for example, one track on the Howard Shore collection (The Departed, which sounds like a maybe-acoustic guitar and a bunch of synths: https://silvascreenmusic.greedbag.com/buy/the-film-music-of-howard-shore-0/), and on the JW 80th collection, they're only credited on "Cantina Band," the Tintin main titles, and a nasty Casio-sounding "Olympic Fanfare and Theme" (https://silvascreenmusic.greedbag.com/buy/the-music-of-john-williams-the-d/).

Either way, if that "Farewell and the Trip" is live and acoustic, then the Emperor has already won.  It sounds atrocious to me.

It doesn't sound any worse than there City of Prague Orchestra recordings.

Gonna be a lot of "who's on first" hijinks as we all try to differentiate if we're talking about "The Jedi Steps" and "Finale" or "The Jedi Steps & Finale."

Meanwhile my little sister just sent me video of her high school band playing the TFA Finale. If only they were that cool when I was there...
