EA's SWBF2 will be coming out in a few months. Do you think it will contain any unreleased music? It seems this Saturday may or may not be the moment of truth, as they will be showcasing prequel gameplay.

I couldn't quite tell if there was anything in the gameplay reveal. The announcers were talking over the whole thing. I (obviously) heard a lot of prequel music, but not anything that appears to be unreleased... at least not yet.

Did Haab score this game, or is it entirely old Williams stuff?

In other news, I do rather like the music in this new trailer - if you figure out who did it, let me know! (plus the trailer itself is just awesome)

I don't really play videogames unless I'm with my cousin in the summer who has an Xbox (hopefully he'll get this one - that's how I got to try out the 2015 Battlefront), but I do love admiring the graphics and locations (and, possibly, music).

Man, Theed looks amazing in this gameplay footage -

Cities offer such an amazing environment that you just can't get with the in-the-middle-of-nowhere OT locations. It's also really cool how they can render Naboo even more beautifully now, in a way that just wasn't quite possible when the prequels were made.

Wish they'd show other locations now!

Looks like the same dull boring gameplay that made the last game garbage. Nice visuals but running around a tiny map with no cover just trying to blast everything gets old EXTREMELY quick. Too bad Star Wars games have turned into this sort of boring shoot-die-respawn-repeat-repeat-repeat-repeat grossly over expensive nonsense. Wkae me when a game with actual story and substance arrives. I'm going to guess that will be Lego The Last Jedi.

Gordy Haab scored the vast majority of the game. He scored the entire campaign, and then scored multiplayer again on top of that. Musically, it's basically going to be the same as the 2015's Battlefront; Gordy Haab's music mixed with Williams'.

As for the trailer, Gordy said that he did not score that (I was sure he didn't anyway, as it's not his style). It could be that guy that did TLJ's trailer, as it sounds very similar.

Interesting, thanks.

Frederick Lloyd has not claimed credit on his Twitter, so I assume this trailer was someone else (or he doesn't tweet on the weekend!)

I asked if Gordy did the trailer he said someone else did it.

That Kylo Ren Theme at the beginning of he trailer sounds live to me, doesn't sound like a sample library like the rest of it.

New "Rey's Theme" recording at 7:10 or nah?

I noticed that too but figured it was maybe just from the OST with some synths added or something. Who knows.

Not sure if this is what you mean but it is rather disconcerting to have the entire map free of civilians -- i.e. the city is virtually deserted. I'm not sure whether that's just because it's too hard to render responsive crowds, but it is disappointing.*

*It may also be because, IIRC, Theed in TPM is deserted. Now that I think about that, I find it rather odd. The Trade Federation's invasion was a surprise, yet everybody had left already? (except for a handful of high-ranking government officials and some pilots) And then somehow everyone comes back and the city is packed for the parade at the end? Maybe it wasn't actually deserted and I'm misremembering, but if it was, I'm confused. Maybe George Lucas thought it was too expensive to add civilians?  Maybe Theed doesn't have a population other than the government, and all the parade-goers at the end were visiting from elsewhere? Weird.

------------

As a side note, FC4L, there is a story mode in this game, previewed briefly at the end of yesterday's trailer, about an Imperial soldier after ROTJ.

What I meant was the first (well 3rd) Battlefront game was a boring, representative, run around a small map trying to get more kills than you get killed. Wave after wave of respawns. No actual tactic. No true skill. Just run and strafe and shoot before you get shot. I was bored playing the first level befire I was even finished playing the first level. But oh look, you get to be grossly over powered "heroes" and pay more money for a few more levels because they didn't feel like selling you a complete game in the first place.

This new game looks like just more of the same. Class levl characters because you know in war you can only ever handle 1 type of weapon. Going back to the prequels which everyone seems excited about because the game is new but just yesterday were reminding the world how much they hate George Lucas and the crap he came up with after losing his mind in making those films.

That story mode will almost certainly be just cut scenes between levels to give players some sense of satisfaction for completing missions rather than just ending a level and going back to the select screen. The gameplay won't change other than this new, suddenly the entire galaxy is full of strong powerful females, character will have her own special "hero" traits.

I didn't buy the last game until this past Boxing Day for $25. I feel ripped off. Played maybe an hour and doubt I'll ever play it again. Battlefield/front games are such nonsense they aren't worth my time at all.

And no idea why developers who can't be bothered coming up with an actual good game system would somehow be given access to music never before released and then find a creative way to use it. That's too much work with zero financial pay-off that is all these games are about now. I pre-ordered Red Dead 2 and can't wait for a fully fleshed out amazing game.

I played Lego Force Awakens and the original Lego Star Wars 10+ years ago.  I found both so mind-numbingly dull I'd literally fall asleep playing after 30 minutes.

That's my real problem with the first game.  They can add all of the superfluous "bonus" stuff like new skins/maps/classes all they want but unless they change the core gameplay mechanics, it'll still be the same bland experience.

You've never played a first/third-person-shooter? That's how it's always been. Nothing disconcerting about that.

Oh, I have. And, I mean, yeah, they're always deserted. I guess it's just that with a city specifically I kind of expect to see at least a couple residents.

It's a war zone! Civilians left a long time ago, and those who haven't are already dead!

But, IIRC, Naboo seemed deserted from the first time we see it (at least in the parts we can see on screen - many everyone just stayed locked in their homes?) -- even though the Trade Federation took only hours from the start of its invasion to capture Theed. So I'm not sure if it was the war that made Theed deserted...

Still, though, whatever. Not sure why I'm obsessing so much over this detail.

When the droid army enters theed you can se a group of civilans running in the lower left side of the screen. Then afterwars, after the viceroy speaks to the fake queen and she refuses to collaborate, a droid tells another to bring them to camp 4 ( a prisoner camp) in the scene afterwards you can see several groups of civilians being escorted by droids....

Interesting! Are you Pablo Hidalgo in disguise? :P

I found that prisoner scene you mentioned (the important shot is at :08):

Anyway, this new info really changes things. The city still totally feels like a ghost town, but I guess that's to be expected -- presumably the residents hid in their houses or whatever during the initial "battle" (which wasn't very big since Naboo had basically no security).

Now I am satisfied.

About the score, I was just thinking that while I sorta doubt there will be unreleased TFA music and obviously won't be anything from TLJ, I wonder if Haab will incorporate TFA's themes much. Could be fun.

Yes, Gordy Haab re-arranged Rey's theme, as well as many other character themes for the hero intros and outros. It IS a new recording. Also, Will, Gordy doesn't use synth at all, all of the music he writes, including short pieces like that, are performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.

You know, when I heard that recording, I thought there was something a little different about it.

Know what it was?

Ever played Rainbow 6 Vegas? Far superior gameplay to the run/strafe and shoot shoot shoot! Die-respawn-shoot some more boring tired mechanic.

Go play a game like Medal of Honor (not the garbage churned from a machine that comes out today, the REAL Medal of Honor) or take a look at Player Unknown's Battlegrounds. When you die you DIE. No respawn and run around like a jackass trying to get more kills in before you get taken out by a "hero" again.

Battlefront was a dull boring game cash grab built on an established franchise designed for the simplest of gaming minds. The sequel looks just as bland and boring. Pretty graphics don't make up for terrible gameplay.

Did someone plant small threads of steel wool in your cereal this morning, or what?

I've seen a number of your posts over the last year and you seem perpetually angry or haughty, at least whenever you're not hyped for the next Williams concert you've booked tickets for. You've (without any sense of irony) called others posters 'idiotic' and 'morons.' Now, a Sharky of a few years ago would've straight up called you a morose cunt and told you to fuck the fuck off back to wherever you came from, but I'm somewhat beyond that now.

All I ask is for you to is to remember here at JWFan we're first and foremost a community--tight-knit, salty and cliquish perhaps--but there's an unwritten basic standard of courtesy expected of all users no matter how long they've been here for. With your current attitude you're just going to quickly earn yourself a bunch of enemies, and unless you want to enter the JWFan rogue's gallery of Augie, skyy38, Salacious and Cantus Venti, I'd recommend lightening up a bit.

This post only deserves to be quoted to preserve the fact that the only way you've changed from your "old" self is you are now too chicken shit to follow through on the threats you previously would have because you don't want to suffer the consequence of your actions. So you just make a quick fake jump to get someone off guard to flinch and then laugh as you walk away feeling superior on your high horse. Good job.

Oh, wow, cool!

So now we get a little of TFA from the LSO. Just a taste.

Is ALL the Williams music newly recorded, or just some?

Only the hero intros and outros, and they aren't really 're-recordings' as much as that are adaptations, because Gordy puts his own spin on them. The rest of the music will be a combination of Gordy's original music along with music from the films, just like it was for the first game. The music process for this game and 2015's Battlefront are identical.

More lazy than chicken shit. I don't care about getting banned, as I'm not around here enough these days for it to matter. I just can't be bothered sustaining pointless flame wars anymore. I don't have the stamina.

It would be nice to replace those current cues with Battlefront 2 ones, as they are higher quality wav files. Those older cues a riddled with MP3 compression.

Exactly. I doubt they'll have any, but I was hoping for some of the unused material from TPM that we got in the games from the early 2000's.
