Who's #1? The big kahuna? Numero uno? The greatest? The king (or queen) of all movie characters!?

 

These are questions. Questions that need answering.

The masses have voted and as always the result rarely corresponds with my taste. I think they raped the character of Indiana Jones already a long time ago.

Character depth is overrated anyway. A well fleshed out part is meaningless in a forgettable or unremarkable movie. Also, who wanted layers of an onion when they went to the pictures to see a guy clamber beneath a wagon, anyway? Ebert missing the point not for the first time. Not to mention that time has granted a reasonable degree of discernable nuance to the Indiana/Doctor Jones persona, in spite of the genre he embodies.

He worked closely with 007 the other coolest character ever while they kicked Nazi ass.  Even shared the same woman.  Who can top that?
