I took @Sandor's cue and cheated with a top 6 for the latter ;)

This is just a snapshot of my current feelings, I could edit and futz with the list forever.  10 years ago, it'd probably have been just the most famous scores, but that gets boring after a while!  Minority Report's one I've been gaining more and more appreciation for over the past couple of years, so it's quite high in my estimation currently.

There's no Spielberg/Williams collaboration I get nothing out of, that I actually dislike.  There's something to be enjoyed in all of them for me.  Yes, even The BFG!

They used to, Jay. There was a time when ROTLA was #3 in my all-time top 10 JW scores, and I still enjoy listening to tracks such as APPROACHING THE STONES, and THE MIRACLE OF THE ARK is still among his most awe-inspiring of achievements.

It's just that, as I've grown older, I've begun to turn off that "sturm und drang", and, generally, on to quieter, more contemplative scores (doesn't explain 1941, though; possibly his "loudest" piece of work! ).

I'll always appreciate the IJ scores, I just don't need them in my life, at this time.

Agreed!

But then, there's no John Williams score that I actively dislike, either, Spielberg movie or not.

On the other hand, I actively dislike many of the Hans Zimmer scores, though some of them are okay.

Giving a little more attention to Wikipedia's records, I discovered that Spielberg was responsible for almost all the movies that populated theaters in the 80's and 90's.  Even Transformers (2005)

I wish I could appreciate CE3K more. I've seen the movie only once, and I wasn't very impressed with it, and I never saw it again. Even the score didn't leave much of am impression on me....

Ι admit I'm bored a lot with CE (especially with the mountain vision scenes and Roy's obsession) and whenever I watch it I'm looking forward to the last 20 minutes or so,

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS is a spectacular film in many ways. Easily in my Top 5 Spielberg, and hence one of my alltime favourite films. The score is brilliant too, but isn't QUITE into the Top 5 -- just because there's so much brilliant stuff to choose from.

I love Jaws, Star Wars, Raiders, and E.T.!

And yet, I somehow never got into CE and Superman.

But I have time... I'm gonna rewatch these two movies again some time soon.

This is a joke, I assume. But still, it is a list of both master's darker, colder and more serious works.

Hopefully we'll get another Spielberg/Williams collaboration on a Tom Cruise picture!

Why not! If available, in former motion pictures' style, please. Plus a complete score release for all three, to go.

That would be a dream come true, yes.

I'm getting the feeling that Spielberg got a little fed up with Cruise after all the Katie Holmes/Tom Cruise sensationalism right at the premiere of WotW. But hopefully, that's all forgotten now.
