I've had the sessions for a while, but still very happy this is happening.

Opens the door for Bond on specialty labels in the future I hope!  There are a few Roger Moore era scores I'd give my left arm to have complete.

Warner Bros released the OST or Die Another Day. The bulk of the Bond scores were released by EMI though. We'll have to see but I certainly wouldn't start expecting anything based on this.

It says WB, EON, and MGM proudly present...

Doesn’t that mean that all three of them were required to sign off on his release? I always figured the studio makes the call.

It depends really. The studio usually owns the score. But the rights to release it on CD can lie with a music label. Sometimes they can own the rights in perpetuity.

I remember that for Jurassic Park, LLL has to get both Universal the movie studio and Universal the music label to sign off on the release, and of course Spielberg, Williams and who knows how many more.

That's why projects like this can take years from start to finish, even if all the tapes and documentation are accounted for. Just getting permissions to proceed from one stage to another takes a long time.

I dunno. Madonna's song has grown on me since 2002.

I wouldn't go so far as to call it a "good song" but there's not one James Bond song I don't like in some fashion.  If nothing else just as a time capsule of the time, place, and culture of when that Bond film was made.  So yeah, I'll listen to the Madonna song!

weird that the title song is not included...neither the oakenfold remix (wasnt it for the end credits?)

Well, at least the other two arnold scores do have song written by him so maythe those will be included...

I can understand why LLL doesn’t shell out for a Madonna song.  Not nearly as befuddling as the Bond OSTs missing their songs (Casino Royals, Skyfall, Spectre).

And yet the one with the worst song, QoS, gets to have the song on the OST.

I'm fine with them not including Die Another Day. It's not a good song, and Arnold didn't really have anything really to do with it, so it's barely referenced in instrumental form in the score.

Also Another Way to Die is such a confused song. White and Keys did not make for a great duo, and barely matched up with each other. It was a crappy disappointment.

Same.  It would be cool if David Arnold could finish the song he started writing before Madonna came onboard.  Wasn't it called I Will Return?  The melody is all over the score (the cue Peaceful Fountains of Desire).  It would be a nice companion piece to Surrender and No Good About Goodbye.

The Oakenfold track on the OST is not in the film.

I think the QoS song, No Good about Goodbye, is terrific.

I'm not aware of any other song.

On topic: mindblowing release. Always thought they'd release this another day.

That is not from Quantum of Solace.  It was written and recorded after the fact, though it is based on an idea from the movie.  Great song, regardless; it's an honorary Bond song if nothing else.

Neil replied to a post on the Intrada forum asking about orchestra-only versions

Quote

The stereo tapes were provided by David Arnold and had the electronics mixed in. We discussed this and this is how he wanted it. I'm guessing the orchestra only versions were dub stage decisions.

There were two cues that had alternate mixes without the electronics and those are included with the additional material.

One of my ultimate holy grails is a truly complete and properly assembled Tomorrow Never Dies by David Arnold.  I hope that one's possible.

The World is Not Enough by David Arnold would be nice too, since there was never a session leak or bootleg or iso score or anything for that one.

Until I started reading Burlingame's book, I didn't know that TSWLM is the shortest Bond score. It's something like 36 minutes, but it seems a lot longer (and that includes source music, and the Jarre stuff).

I still love it, though. I love the way the Bond Theme comes to an abrupt end, on board the Liparius.

I would buy all four given that Bond scores are my favourite works of his.
