Don't mind this title but not going to happen after TLJ, way too similar.

True.

I don't think they're going to go with an 'of the' title personally.

And much like JJ's first Star Wars movie, the title works on a meta level, since Episode IX is kind of the franchise's last hope to reverse course on the bad publicity it's been suffering for a couple of years, even before TLJ.

Yeah. Only problem is I don’t think they’d use “Last” again.

And unlike Johnson, JJ seems really into respecting the symmetry of the titles ...eg The Phatom Menace/A New Hope/The Force Awakens, then Revenge of the Sith/Return of the Jedi.

So I’m looking for a four word title, with two words being “of the”.

It’s a tone poem you see.

It's gonna be Spark of Hope or something. It was said so many times in TLJ (to an annoying extent - why did Poe have to say that same line twice) and also in the opening scrawl. Hell, maybe TLJ should've been called A Spark of Hope

Force Awakens isn't like those previous titles though.  They were [Article] [Adjective] [Noun].  TFA is [Article] [Noun] [Verb]

Yeah I'm 99% confident it will be '******** of the ********'

Although, before The Last Jedi they'd also never reused a key Star Wars noun in a title before, so what do I know?

Well arguably only the third film in the last two trilogies slavishly "rhymed."

Obvious signature nouns that haven't been used in a title so far include: Rebellion, Resistance, First Order, Republic, Light Side, Dark Side, Knights, Galaxy and Rathtars.

Balance of the Force?

Yeah thought of that one too, would be a fitting title given the Rey/Kylo dynamic.

Ridiculous idea: would JJ not invite Williams to the set given they'll both be in London during late October?

I mean, unless they're shooting on location at that time. Presumably the whole shoot isn't at Pinewood.

First they'd have to convince Daisy Ridley to drop the restraining order.

TFW when you remember that JJ's cowriter for this is the dude who wrote Justice League...

...and Argo.

Nothing was saving Justice League. That film was doomed the moment the director walked in the door.

As long as there's not dumb lines like:

"Luke Skywalker, we need you to come back because Kylo Ren is strong with the Force."

:pat:

wait was that an actual quote from TLJ?

It's weak. Quite weak.

Not really. I like how it cuts rights down to the core conflict in TLJ.

It’s actually a very good example of how the film as a whole disassembles the Star Wars mythos down to its basic elements.

Clearly it wasn't that distracting if I didn't even remember it after seeing the movie 5 or 6 times.

To each his own.
