More spectacular and emotive than anything in Nolan's Dunkirk.

I watched some of Dunkirk last night.  It might be too slick for its own good.

The long shots in The Longest Day feel more spontaneous, yet impressive.  You get more of a sense of the awesome scale of the invasion and the sacrifice.

Dunkirk left me a bit underwhelmed in that sense.  Some nice scenes, though.

Indeed, for years TLD was the definitive D-Day film, even with its gimmicky all star cast. Special mention to The Big Red One too.

How was Hamill in that one?

John Wayne is extremely distracting in TLD.

I have a soft spot for A Bridge Too Far.

Nothing wrong with The Living Daylights.

Really? I think that was a terrible period for Bond. I'm glad they Bourned up the series. Some of the true vintage ones are fun (Live And Let Die) too.

You have to wait for it but the zoom in on Orson Welles' face. Not a big fan of the movie but this shot (and later his speech) saves it.

I was looking for that shot when I first posted earlier in the thread but couldn’t find it. Brilliant film.

English and Russian hooligans.

And hooliganism is condoned in Russia (outside the stadium, that is)!
