Disco Stu's Isolated Score Videos - Non-Williams Edition

Recommended Posts

Alright, I asked @Disco Stu permission to use his thread for this so here we go:

Here is the alternate "In the Bulrushes" from original OST for The Ten Commandments restored to picture, it has the Bass flute version of the "Bithia's Bathing Float" source cue.

So gratifying to see this.  When the Moses theme comes in on woodwinds as the basket is opened.  Lovely.

Thank you!

@Disco Stu here are some more:

Moses (Alternate):

This a shorter alternate version of the cue in the film, the fanfare portion is a faster take as well.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Kl0Ypw4PqJdk1n6E0iE077Nkel0Kz8ur

Moses (Film Version):

In the film a section of the cue had a short bit of brass tracked and overlaid over the transition to the victory parade

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1CzWMmgfYczauS6Ui3OPwWt58-_Fqpxfg

Nefretiri:

The opening section of the cue was faded in, in the film.

Ethiopians/Drums:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aL4uKTIUdl2-enSpWi6fBnGB4tPzodBN

Moses and Nefretiri/New City Underway (Original):

This is the original version of both the cue for the scene between Moses, Nefretiri and Bithia, and the cue for Joshua and Lilia, notice the usage of the unused original exotic theme for Nefretiri, that the Seti/Egyptian Power theme is not interrupted by the Hebrew theme, and the orchestration differences in Joshua's theme.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kBwEdXDo29Q749eMhwa9heiT4MVsLSi0

Temple Grain (Original):

This is an alternate version of Temple Grain, the cue is taken at a slower pace and ends differently.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1c7jImbooOGZNLN4kBgMuqZ74U__AH81T

Hounds and Jackals:

This is an unused cue for Seti and Nefretiri playing an ancient board game, it is unknown if there was more to the scene (showing actual musicians etc.) so I placed the music where I felt made the most sense.

I made two versions of the video, one with the music on its own, and one with the music mixed under the dialogue.

With Dialogue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-rWkUsN2T81UVSTll0arpMl3HEmSY8fw

Memnet's Murder (Original Version):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1F74clqZuKbhrIZZ21EBuL_5wscuhc_rS

This is the original version of the cue for Nefretiri killing Memnet, which starts earlier, and features Bithia's theme, and more of the Hebrew theme, plus the clarinet plays more of Moses' theme.

Memnet's Murder (Revised):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1QHx7z6sWNe4T54uYpADHnbcPttRIC-lD

This is an intermediate version of the same cue, it mostly sounds like the film version, but is slightly longer, due to differences in the middle section from Nefretiri's theme to Moses'

Intro to The Royal Barge/The Royal Barge:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1eGEiLYEBNs2PNhTR7QDWZyTxTvnjrccR

In the film the opening is dialed out, the middle section is trimmed slightly, and a source cue plays underneath the very end of the scene (Disc 3 Track 26 of the Intrada set)

The Royal Barge (Original):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VScgP9jaRWgVyCCysLYlmi4gzXpVZsEc

This is the original version using Nefretiri's unused exotic theme, I have no idea if this is how it was intended to be used, as there are no obvious sync points.

The Die is Cast:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ANVkO2DVJqPfCJ5Sgytzuu4nFf5aTr-m

In the film a wild recording of a Tiple (Disc 3 Track 27 of the Intrada set) is overlaid over the melody around 0:00-0:15 and 0:45-0:56, it seems the scene was slightly longer when scored, perhaps the scene was trimmed to reduce violence.

Court Dance:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=18wsJWye0sJVA6A7VBiYr5BtcYIIzoQR2

This is the version of Court Dance used in the film, there were multiple cuts, and a loop near the end, I figure the scene was longer, with more dance choreography, perhaps more banter between Seti, Ramses, and Nefretiri, and with the reaction shot of Bithia either being added later, or shifted forward.

Court Dance (Alternate):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GjNmQzrzZyyT8YcNgjgMiJX_CDDPJqLe

A shorter, alternate version of Court Dance, I think the above version was either a pre-record or an early version, that ended up in the film, I definitely think that it was written and recorded after the version used in the film, due to it starting earlier (Where the film version fades well into the piece.)

Take Him Away:

Isolated: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cS-WDBk2VzZNZ2Hf1QLXTwjl_wgXcf1e

With Dialogue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HIr6GjZYZDjcvnT_Au1_GZSTHvXz40oZ

Apparently this was an unused cue during Moses' sentencing, I have no idea exactly when it would start and end, I tried many placements, I made both an isolated and full mix video.

Baccha's Garden No. 1, 2 and 3:

These are alternates for the source cue for (probably a longer version of) the scene with Dathan moving into Baka's house:

No. 1: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1pjq7_rGjyBwGifTPH72J_fDl0kxRUdbj

No. 2: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SoeMzpd3a84iEhyUnjDgWoyZ0XJYHMDi
No. 3: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dAIcCpWtSicRY3ydZ-3a5tHoxAgfZkaO

Egyptian Border:

It seems Bernstein intended the same cue that scored Moses's sentencing to also score Ramses banishing him into the desert:

With Dialogue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GeoSZ0RWEmWvJxkhjXzEq1cF5lUE4RDl

Defending the Well (Short Version):

This is the film version of Moses driving the Amalekites away from Jethro's well, the last 39 seconds with Sephora's theme was dialed out.

Isolated: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1X5JGKGvCJ8x8yTQgIUvvSavauWeAnLlt

Here is the long version of the piece, using the Sephora-Bedouin theme.

With Dialogue: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aH0hI2BNqcOWfE3ZrMyIFzSvQr6XAEfY

Jethro's Daughters Dance:

Here are the film and alternate versions of the cue, both are longer than what made it in the film.

Film Version: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mrJ1GLZ7HHLHJrIaZR_PaG2wGh7ad-gH

Alternate: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1ASaOk9NxQfgMW4Rt4txiRcBzfyKnn4Kx

Word of God/End of Part 1:

Exactly the same as in the film.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Zin1iN1ndMsnA_JtAX-vgc-5ue9XcE8n

Well of Strangers/Royal Barge:

The end of the cue seems to have been dialed out

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HtOjwNBzvAvqm7qAnXaUjiBGioaQqkBQ

Joshua and Lilia:

The opening is dialed out in the film.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=12ATExHbMzRm0JMguf326XL-CrUmFTlEP

Shadow of Death:

The opening of the cue was replaced with tracked music.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1kouQLNZ5Ld2BCOHQzlsJIdD_NeZgKihd

Lord of the Underworld:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1VgEvi6j26vM87jB_5xOP0Yu96eCVOF-m

Exodus Part 3 (Original):

This is the original version of the Exodus cue, it seems to sync up, the opening might be incorrect.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1bjhAb3aprMFhJynznFy8RxCMY40dCNOD

Mission of Vengeance:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HL8AlpL3Y4cWxgQKRi1YubUAB9UXJyTP

Shofars and Fanfares (Alternates):

I have NO idea if this is correct or not.

The Red Sea Part 1:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1a7j-NHrh6EHcG9olg-vlmpWdbbNV4ZGJ

The Red Sea Part 2:

In the film the middle portion edited down and replaced by "Song of Joseph"

https://drive.google.com/open?id=16BSzGd_c4TjziIydH8_NM1_s2lLxo_yX

The Red Sea Part 3:

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1neSBCWFujfEkw5fw_E_IYyYEGega8Rms

The Red Sea Part 4 (Original):

This is the original version of the cue, which actually scores God drowning the Egyptians in the Red Sea.

The Red Sea Part 4 (Film Version):

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1JiQthxdQEAttL_j_GcGrwmJpQiO43c69

The Finger of God Part 1 (Original):

This is the original version of the appearance of the Pillar of Fire and the beginning of the writing of the Commandments.

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OYPuBqHpmkP4yhLZL3JDds59__Buks51

The Lord's Side (Brass):

This is the film cue with the Brass only alternate edited in.

Exit Music:

This is an alternate version of the exit music.

I did this one first, but the length made the upload time longer.

Reminiscence Therapy slight microedits (lengthening a held note twice) restored, syncs up pretty much like in the film. Then I tried doing the Maw by syncing up the beginning, and very interesting things come out of it, if obviously wrong by the end. Not wanting to waste hours restoring who knows how many and how fine microedits, I did the previous video, that one's probably better for the Maw part.

Don't plan on doing the entire movie at the moment.

Watching the movie, both my Maws are all kinds of wrong, but the film edit is a royal mess.
