Pellaeon 593
Nelson Riddle – Batman (Exclusive Original Television Soundtrack Album) Nelson Riddle – Batman (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Are these the only two albums of 1960s Batman music that have ever been released? If you do a Google search there is a lot of different cover art, but are they all just different editions of the same two albums? Thanks.
mstrox 6,643
Yes - that's it. For many, many years, rights issues were holding up releases of the series. Fairly recently, those rights issues were cleared up, at least for video. At least one of the music label guys - Lukas from FSM, or MV from LLL - probably MV - said that they weren't interested in releasing the score from the series. Disco Stu 15,495
I find it a little hard to believe that LLL would care passionately about releasing Riddle's '66 film score, Elfman and Goldenthal's scores, and scores from the animated series BUT NOT from the live action series. Disco Stu 15,495
I find it hard to believe that some of their more obscure Batman releases could do well but they don’t think this beloved tv series could. Unless the licensing is prohibitively expensive or something.
mstrox 6,643
It was Lukas. http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&threadID=101294 Quote Way back at the beginning of the FSM CD series, when we were doing some Fox titles, we actually transferred a few of the mono Nelson Riddle scoring masters (before we learned that the ownership would make the licensing impossible). We did the Batman movie instead as its ownership was much simpler. I have to tell you...the TV scores were amongst the most annoyingly repetitive and drab things I had ever heard! Sorry... Lukas Meanwhile MV at LLL calls it a holy grail. So maybe it’ll happen. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=112002&forumID=1&archive= Quote The rights are very very complicated and we hope to make it happen someday. Honestly its my holiest of grails. MV
Skelly 260
About a year later (Oct. 2016) MV gave an un-optimistic update on that. http://www.filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?forumID=1&pageID=2&threadID=101294&archive=0 Quote I can tell you with 100% authority that a Batman 1966 box set or even a single disc edition of the series is not happening now or for the foreseeable future. We really tried to make it happen for the 50th Anniversary this year but sadly it didn't.

Thor 7,463
Funnily, John Williams references Hefti's BATMAN theme in his short film score for THE KATHERINE REED STORY.
Bespin 8,475
The thing I love about the old Batman TV series is the casino Video Game. When we got the Joker, it's wild wild wild!!! Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na.... Bat-man!
Pellaeon 593
Batcave, batpoles, batmobile, holy ___ Batman, great stuff. But reason #1 is Julie Newmar— And the leggy Yvonne Craig was no slouch, either.
