No, TPM and AOTC are both truly terrible films, and the truth is, many are still stinging from them. Terribly written, terribly acted, terribly paced, terribly shot, and terribly edited. Their overall plots might be good in theory, but they're executed very poorly.

Revenge of the Sith is just as bad as AOTC.

The Phantom Menance has always been the best of the 3. John's scores for AOTC and ROTS are among his worst efforts.

The acting gets worse and worse as the prequels progressed.

Saddest of all ILM's effects just do not hold up.

And the finale of ROTS is so over thought and untterly stupid it drains the life of the film not that it had much.

Except for this, I completely agree with that post. TPM is above the others because it's so great, not because the other two are bad by any means.

Yeah she still looked sexy with a strap-on baby bump in Part 3.

George should have made her gain weight. It simply wasn't realistic that a 100 pound Natalie was carrying two gigantic twins.

Few and far between are the films that deserve outright hate, I would say.

They're terrible but I don't feel any hate tbh

Sometimes a movie might just rub me the wrong way, be it its ideas or its execution or all of that at the same time. Movies that irk me. Like Jurassic World. But those movies?

There is that scene where she's on the balcony where it seems, to me, like they did her makeup different to the rest of the film to sell the idea of her being in an advanced stage of pregnancy.

My 100 pound sister in law carried two gigantic* twins - and outside of her belly, she looked thin as a rail!  Natalie's prosthetic looked really small though, in the movie.

*They were actually pretty small when they were born

Once she was of legal age, her acting went downhill.

I will make it legal.

Jane Russell was better than either of them.

I doubt you have much experience with Jane Russell.

Aw man, you wouldn't be saying that if you saw the stuff that happened in here when you were gone!

It got juicy! The nature of the eternal cycle between birth and death, objective experience in one's own subjective existence, it was jam-packed. Interesting that it took that turn during your hiatus....

Hey I took a long break from the thread well before that!

I have it on good authority that these are just kids movies for eating space popcorn though

Stubie, dear boy, I'll leave you this excerpt, so as to give you a drop from the land of milk and honey that this thread had become:

People have scorned this thread multiple times over and over, myself included. But ya know, I'm proud of what this thread has become. It's kind of like how Melvin Van Peebles deliberated filmed the sex scenes in Sweet Sweetback's Badass Song first, so executives would dimiss the whole thing as just black people making a porno and leave the team alone, giving Peebles the freedom to make a powerful film.

Do not weep because you missed it: there may be a time still for this thread to transform once again, for you to partake in the elevated consciousness of discourse that in your deepest dreams you wish to lay eyes upon.

I have this strange feeling that all the people who took issue with Luke's character in TLJ are going to have serious trouble experiencing the aging process when they get older.

I didn't have an issue with his character until he turned out to be basically pointless. While that's also a part of the aging process, becoming increasingly useless as you get older, this is Star Wars. We don't want to be reminded of our uselessness and old age when we watch a popcorn space movie for children.

So wait, let me get this straight. This is basically the thread where SW fanboys get to rave about how much they "hate" SW, right?

Unexpected characters come in, villains become goodies, latter-season left-field narratives are tried out.  This thread is like discovering a trashy reality show you can't help liking and finding out it already has like 5 seasons on Netflix.

That about sums it up.
