It's a fact "that Johnson shit on what TFA supposedly set up".

No, it's not because no, it didn't.  I just don't agree. Maybe it shit on what fanboys were expecting, but TFA never really promised you any of those things.

I know you guys love me but I'm done here!

Dont you walk away from here you filthy son of a bitch It's your decision, of course. If you ever decide to return to the SWD Support Group, you will be welcomed with open arms, and a cup of lemon-strawberry-kiwi infused water. It's got plenty of Vitamin C and cleansing antioxidants.

What is most embarrassing... that I was right, or Solo's (under-) performance?

Be sure to read that article's comments... all of them.

I really couldn't give a single shit if it did well at the box office, or if other people didn't like it. I thought it was a solid film. Is it a masterpiece? No. But it's a fun film, at that's all it ever needed to be.

I keep hearing from people on the internet about how they don't care how much money it makes (or doesn't make) simply because they enjoyed it. Yeah that's fine, I enjoyed Masters of the Universe, John Carter and Cutthroat Island, but they weren't in a hurry to make a sequel. And that's why people care, because a film's box office is the most accurate gauge into the general audience's interest in the film, and if it doesn't make the expected returns, then that has a significant influence on the TPTB and their decisions on the future direction of the franchise. In short, money talks.

EDIT: and Independence Day Resurgence rightfully bombed hard. That'll teach them to make better movies next time.

Typically it will teach them not to make another ID4 movie.

It would have been better if it was about the ground war in Africa instead of a lame retread of the first movie.

Just because a movie doesn't do well in the box office certainly doesn't mean that all of the inane fandom arguments are right!

My big hope is that this doesn't discourage Lucasfilm from more low-stakes Star Wars movies.  Solo worked well as a heist movie.  This universe can work without constant world-ending superweapons.

I don't care how many videos he provides, I still love TLJ and thought Solo was pretty fun.

Agreed. Nothing makes me less likely to take a point seriously than angry and entitled vloggers overanalysing things.

What I should have said: If that crap (that is Canto Bight) was meant to depict 'forced child labor', it failed miserably since Rose and Finn didn't even try to save the kids, choosing instead to 'rescue' the racing horses. And most fans would agree that painfully self-righteous, horribly-written, and irrelevant plot lines do not belong in Star Wars films."

Being shocked, disappointed, upset by the identity politics agenda writing in TLJ  is not a "tactic". I do not have an agenda except wanting Star Wars films that are well-crafted and honor the characters and stories in the previous trilogies. TLJ didn't even honor TFA. It should have been an easy lay-up, with the majority of the story set-up and character introductions out of the way. Instead, TLJ took a massive crap on it. Many of the fans realize this and have voiced their displeasure by skipping Solo.

It's your choice whether or not to take me - and people like me - "seriously". But the backlash (to what people perceive is happening with Star Wars) is real. If you really think that I'm part of a "vocal minority" that didn't make "even a small dent in [Solo's] numbers", then we will have to agree to disagree.

In the Solo thread, you said that you were "done" arguing with me. Yet you chose to migrate over here to continue arguing, using an obviously derogatory tone.

I'm officially done here.

I actually stumbled upon a cute ASMR porn vid tonight. But as I was watching it, it confirmed to me why ASMR should just stay as ASMR. You can't mix the two and expect the same result. Interesting experiment but ASMR is meant to relax while porn is meant to excite and arouse.
