The Burbs is one of the most intelligent scores I can think of. It's not outstandingly complex, but the narrative and the commentary of the score are something that is normally not part of a film score.

It's time to reissue it with a better flow by connecting some cues. The bleeding tracks and the missing film versions is also a reason for an update, let alone the fact that it's OOP.

Does Varese own The Burbs in perpetuity?

TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE. It's like four film score gems all in one.

GREMLINS 2 on second place.

I did a group interview with Joe Dante awhile back, and we talked about his collabs with Goldsmith, among other things. The film music discussion starts about 25: 15 here, if anyone's interested:

Why Gremlins 2 over Gremlins? I don't get it.

Maybe I should give it another chance. Varese's DE got on my nerves.

Partly for the same reason that the second film is better than the first one. Also, Total Recall style badass synth writing instead of the goofy synths from the first score. Also Pot Luck.

I love both equally. The first one's suited for night listening, while the second's suited for day.

I only give slight edge to the second one because it's for a better movie (J. Dante's magnum opus next to Matinee).

Twilight Zone: The Movie for me!

Gremlins and The Burbs are classics, too.  Most of the others I haven't gotten into too much.
