karelm 2,913 Posted August 7, 2018 Share Posted August 7, 2018 Lost in Space (1965-8) and Star Trek TOS (1966-9) share many of the same composers such as Fred Steiner, Gerald Fried, etc. Of course, Star Trek's theme was by Sandy Courage and Lost in Space's theme was from Johnny Williams but neither worked too much in the series sound other than the themes and the pilots. But it is fair to say that the sound of Star Trek TOS is Courage, Steiner, and Fried. The orchestral sound of Lost in Space is Williams, Steiner, Fried. which did it better? The main part of the Star Trek Theme isn’t used greatly in the scores, but the opening fanfare or a variation thereof is quoted in damned near every other track of all of TOS. Also, his unused alternate theme for the second pilot (sol / do / fa / ti \ la) is referenced fairly commonly. But the Courage scores themselves are are pretty dull and moody.
