SteveMc 2,674
Solid stuff, but I can't hear too much similarity outside the opening interval of the flute solo. Strangely, it reminds me more of Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. Fabulin

aescalle 122
Can't see any connections even on the writing or concerning the arrangements. I am agree with Steve McQueen about the connection with the Miserables. If the Carrie Theme is focusing on the virginal state of the character and the childhood reminiscense, The Princess Leia theme is using a more complex structure which is axing on maturity and romance... more passion in it. Donaggio uses some rather simplistic piano chords, and yes there is a flute but it's for me the only thing that makes connection. Just a solo flute. nothing else. Quintus 5,399
I just hear the bastard child of A Country Practice and The English Patient.

tranders65 65
Plus, knowing Williams doesn't even generally watch movies and given Carrie's release date of late 1976 and that JW had probably already started composing themes, etc. in anticipation of the March '77 London recording dates, I couldn't possibly see it being a factor at all.
