At what concert did Williams conduct "The Lost World" main  theme in the 90's and is there a good sounding vverssion of that?

He conducted it on on July 3rd, and 4th, 1998, at The Barbican.

I've no idea if there's audio, or video (except in my head).

John Williams is recovering well from his illness (read news), and will return to Los Angeles next week, according to information provided by Mike Matessino, record producer, who had first hand information from John Williams’ circle.

I may be a bit late but it doesn't look like anyways posted this. MM says JW is getting better.

Yes. The original source for that news was a post on this same forum which then I mentioned on our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.

http://Facebook.com/JWFan

http://Twitter.com/_JWFan

http://Instagram.com/_JWFan

And everyone else picked it up from there.

With these two latest social media ventures I'm rediscovering that people don't mention the source for their "news" on their websites. Just like in the good'ol early '00s days!

(and it's no surprise in the case of "SoundtrackFest")

If his illness was not related to his travels and was just a case of bad timing, he may try to return to London next year.

If he’s still insurable...

So JW was in London for what? An entire week?

Were any photos taken and published of him on this trip to London? Arriving at the airport, rehearsing with the orchestra before he was taken ill, or maybe of him lying in the hospital bed, smiling into the camera...?

If yes, glad if somebody could post them.

Apparently he's still in London, but will be heading back to LA soon.

Star Wars fans were shocked to learn that iconic composer John Williams had to cancel appearances due to being hospitalized last week, though we can now breathe a sigh of relief as Williams is reportedly out of the hospital and resuming his previously scheduled commitments. SoundTrackFest confirmed the news about Williams leaving the hospital, which also noted that he will be returning to Los Angeles, California.

Would you like a copy of his medical notes as well? 😉

Actually the healthcare system in the UK is nothing to write home about.... Here's a list of the 16 best healthcare system in the world, and the UK is nowhere to be found.

Still 10 times better than the US healthcare, though, but that's a given. 😂

Hmm, as reliably informed as website randomer 'Will Martin' of the illustrious Nordic branch of BusinessInsider.com is, you'll forgive me for checking other sources that might have backed up your claim (they did not, although zilch surprises there):

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-40608253

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/09/18/upshot/best-health-care-system-country-bracket.html

I'm no expert mind. Josh500 on the other hand may well have scholarly knowledge of health systems around the world, I don't know. Either that, or he literally just cited the first result on Google (classic schoolboy error).

The original source is still the same FB post that Mike wrote 3 days ago, there's still NOTHING new.

And of course "SoundtrackFest" knows nothing about Williams' condition.

Well yes and no.

If you don't have health insurance, obviously the US health care system sucks for you.

On the other hand, if you do have (good) health insurance, the care is some of the best in the world. Potentially, anyway.  The big problem in America is access, not quality of care.

Obviously, access is a part of the overall healthcare. A big part. Duh. What good is an excellent healthcare if only the richest 0,001% can afford it? Only the millionaires, in other words. (Although JW is one, so good for him!)

But don't get me started on the US healthcare. Everybody knows it's one of the absolute worst, only slightly better than most Third World countries. Highest obesity rate, one of the highest infant mortality rates, one of the lowest life expectancies among industrialised nations, and on and on.

If you or a family member gets cancer in the US, I hear it's only a matter of time before you land on the street bankrupt.... This may be an exaggeration, but I suspect for the large majority of the population it's not. Not in a country where roughly a third of the population is dependent on social security and/or food stamps.

This article is from 2014, but it's getting worse than better in the US. Go figure.

He didn't rehearse. The LSO was supposed to have their first rehearsal with Williams on the day when his illness was announced.

Anybody seen this? This is great! The Jaws Theme on the piano....

Was this done by a JWfan member, by any chance?

That is what we all would wish for Maestro Williams!

I've seen the scribbling on the Musikverein with my own eyes,

it was quite tempting to add something but I decided no to do so.

The most important thing now is his recovery and being in good spirit.

JW isn't a celebrity in the traditional sense, so they're not reporting on his every move. If we get no news, everything's probably fine.

We need to fit all composers with a tracker so we can track their movements in real time, like flightradar24.

He looks very healthy there.  I mean, really, doesn't look like a man approaching his late-80s at all.  You'd guess he was 10 years younger at least.

I think we as fans of John Williams are exceptionally lucky that he has had good health into his later years. There is a whole variety of mental and physical reasons why someone in his mid 80s would not be able to continue writing and conducting, yet here is Williams going against the odds. I mean, how many musicians still write new material in their 80s for fans to enjoy? We are so lucky! It still blows my mind a little that a composer who scored for Hitchcock is still releasing new scores today.

The average life expectancy in America is about 77. If Williams died at that age, we would have missed all of his scores after Crystal Skull.
