Favourite Long Melodic Themes

A place to share your favourite lengthy themes. Not motifs. Screw those quickies. I'm talking full-length, meaty, plush, 40-note themes that last 30 seconds+ and are ultra flexible for all situations in a film.

One of my absolute favourites is from JNH's score for the basically forgotten film; The Huntsman - Winter's War. It's one of his best themes, and he uses it across the entire orchestra for just about every emotion possible.

1:32 on Flute, followed by Strings a minute later.

And 3:39 in all its orchestral JNH glory.

I love that theme too :)

i fell slightly in love with Desplat's Farewell to Dobby last night:

And this gem from Marianelli which undergoes some subtle variations throughout the score:

(hate this image on the poster BTW - it's very unrepresentative of the film)

Indeed.

His themes were essentially elaborate sequences of the most elegant melancholic phrases. His gift was his ability to weave them together without seeming like a meandering mess. Something many contemporary film composers could pick up on.

Ah, I see. Well if you don't like the setting of the theme in The Godfather, maybe you'd prefer it here? ;)

I don't dislike Rota, but I don't get the Godfather mania, film or score.  His Romeo and Juliet theme is great.

I could fill this whole thread with Rota melodies.
