Anthony 572
I thought I'd be much happier with the film version of that cue, but I've grown so accustomed to the vocals it now sounds like something is missing without them. Interestingly, the opening of "Bond Has Left The Building" and "Welcome To Kazakhstan" contain music we never even knew existed, albeit only a few seconds worth. A. A. Ron 1,742
I saw this movie for the first time the other night and quite enjoyed it. Disco Stu 15,495
Hmm it’s the dullest of the Brosnan Bonds. Die Another Day is an insane disaster but it’s not dull. There are some cool set pieces in TWINE though.

gkgyver 1,645
TWINE is by far the better film. At least it feels organic. Die Another Day is an abortion. It was a cringy Marvel film before there were cringy Marvel films.
Richard Penna 3,688
I think TWINE was my first Bond film and I've always rather liked it. The score is less busy than Arnold's other ones, with that nice piano motif and a beautful theme for Elektra.

crocodile 8,012
The first Bond film I ever watched was On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I've watched it not long ago for the second time and it's definitely up there with the best (From Russia With Love, Casino Royale). Of the Brosnan films, I remember being quite fond of GoldenEye. I'm planning of rewatching it and the rest of the series (did get to film 7). Karol

crocodile 8,012
No. Connery was good in the first couple of films. He started to get on my nerves a bit in the remaining ones. He just doesn't give a shit. Karol bollemanneke
Naïve Old Fart 9,528
Different, but not necessarily better, per se. Lazenby puts in a better performance, in OHMSS than Connery does in that true Bondian abortion DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER (sorry @gkgyver). 48 minutes ago, Stefancos said: Lazenby is a weak Bond, but the film itself is superb. Because everything that surrounds Lazenby is so top-drawer, we can forgive him for being lax, at times. As for DAD; it might be "an abortion", but it has my favourite line since the '95 reboot: "I know all about the UN embargo. I studied at Oxford and Harvard. Majored in Western hypocrisy". Still makes me chuckle.

SteveMc 2,674
Who would have been better for OHMSS, Connery, Moore, or Dalton? Dalton was rather young at the time, but he could have brought some balance. Can't help imagining Connery reading all of Lazenby's lines, though. Disco Stu 15,495
I like both of Dalton's Bond films, but I do wish he'd had the opportunity to be in one with a script as good as OHMSS. SteveMc
Naïve Old Fart 9,528
Are you bwain dead, Steef?! At least Lazenby tried. In DAF, Connery was fat, complacent and lazy. He sleepwalked through that film, but then, he hadn't put in a decent Bond performance, since GOLDFINGER. There's nothing remotely remarkable, or original, about DAF. It's a nasty piece of work. Yes, Lazenby is a stuffed shirt, but he's got more genuine emotion, than Connery ever had.

Sweeping Strings 2,358
DAF has its moments (elevator fight, the 'right idea ... but wrong pussy' exchange, the 'Plenty O'Toole' exchange) but even approached as a kind of absurd black comedy it's all a bit too much for me. And those who blame Moore for the overly comedic direction the films took seem to overlook that it starts with DAF. I think Lazenby acquits himself damn well, considering he had to follow Connery and was hired for his physical prowess instead of his acting experience/ability. publicist 4,643
I don't know, though certainly not Live and Let Die or The Man With the Golden Gun. The Brosnans were all intensely boring, Casino Royale and that other one with Bardem at least watchable. I'd say 2 Connerys, 2 Moores, 1 Dalton, 1 Lazenby and 2 Craigs. But truth to be told, i wouldn't watch them again. DAF at least has the funny dub and it's pleasantly silly. This, Moonraker and TSWLM for lighter afternoons. Cues like "Snow Business," "Out of the Snow / Stay With Me Please," "Devil's Breath," and "Welcome to Kazakhstan" really add a lot to the listening experience I think. In addition to the absolutely classic Arnold action/suspense music we already had with "Ice Bandits," "Pipeline," and of course the home run "Come in 007, Your Time is Up." I must admit, as with Die Another Day actually, the climax setpiece music tends to wash over me, but I'm hoping to really get more familiar with those cues this time. I tended to not really listen to "Submarine" on the original album.
Jay 37,363
I find in all his Bond scores, the climax setpiece cues aren't as good as the earlier action tracks. I actually find that the case with a lot of scores, and have been idly thinking about creating a thread about it some day And, yea, I didn't exactly remember which tracks where new and old when listening, but you pointed out all the highlight tracks I noticed! Really the only time I thought the presentation slowed down too much was in middle bit with the casino tracks
Disco Stu 15,495
And of course I switched the two "Welcome to Baku" tracks in iTunes. Sorry David, I prefer the film version in my main score presentation.
Richard Penna 3,688
I was always atttracted to Snow Busness and Pipeline. Listening to this set, the Bunker material in particular has a really good build-up and the underscore material is generally also pretty interesting as it's largely driven by either Renard's piano motif or Elektra's theme. This is the only Bond score I feel I need complete, and I think it's largely because of that nice balance between action music and calmer moments, and also (as the liners point out) it's not an overly long score. I'm sufficiently unfamiliar with the OST that really, which bits are new is pretty irrelevant.
