Anthony 572 Posted December 12, 2018 Share Posted December 12, 2018 I thought I'd be much happier with the film version of that cue, but I've grown so accustomed to the vocals it now sounds like something is missing without them. Interestingly, the opening of "Bond Has Left The Building" and "Welcome To Kazakhstan" contain music we never even knew existed, albeit only a few seconds worth. I've watched it not long ago for the second time and it's definitely up there with the best (From Russia With Love, Casino Royale). Of the Brosnan films, I remember being quite fond of GoldenEye. Dalton was rather young at the time, but he could have brought some balance. Can't help imagining Connery reading all of Lazenby's lines, though. He sleepwalked through that film, but then, he hadn't put in a decent Bond performance, since GOLDFINGER. There's nothing remotely remarkable, or original, about DAF. It's a nasty piece of work. And those who blame Moore for the overly comedic direction the films took seem to overlook that it starts with DAF. I think Lazenby acquits himself damn well, considering he had to follow Connery and was hired for his physical prowess instead of his acting experience/ability. The Brosnans were all intensely boring, Casino Royale and that other one with Bardem at least watchable. I'd say 2 Connerys, 2 Moores, 1 Dalton, 1 Lazenby and 2 Craigs. But truth to be told, i wouldn't watch them again. DAF at least has the funny dub and it's pleasantly silly. This, Moonraker and TSWLM for lighter afternoons. In addition to the absolutely classic Arnold action/suspense music we already had with "Ice Bandits," "Pipeline," and of course the home run "Come in 007, Your Time is Up." I must admit, as with Die Another Day actually, the climax setpiece music tends to wash over me, but I'm hoping to really get more familiar with those cues this time. I actually find that the case with a lot of scores, and have been idly thinking about creating a thread about it some day And, yea, I didn't exactly remember which tracks where new and old when listening, but you pointed out all the highlight tracks I noticed! Listening to this set, the Bunker material in particular has a really good build-up and the underscore material is generally also pretty interesting as it's largely driven by either Renard's piano motif or Elektra's theme. This is the only Bond score I feel I need complete, and I think it's largely because of that nice balance between action music and calmer moments, and also (as the liners point out) it's not an overly long score.
