Jim Titus all along prepared BOTH Sorcerer's Stone AND Philisopher's Stone covers for the set.

 

Mike originally wanted to use Philiosopher's for the set, but WB wanted to use Sorcerer's, so that was that.

 

His plan was always to distribute the Philosopher's Stones covers digitally after the announcement,  so here they are!

I'll probably use Sorcerer's Stone covers.  Sorry, Sorcerer's Stone is the book I fell in love with 20 years ago, not Philosopher's Stone.  But I'm glad these are being made available for those who want them.

Gorgeous artwork. I prefer the first one with the castle and the boats... So atmospheric, mysterious, and thrilling! Plus, that reminds me of one of the absolute best cues from HP & PS!

Love that Mike fought for the original title. Not much you can do when the studio mandates the US-only title for a global release though. 

 

This is an excellent compromise seeing as most of us will probably look at the physical artwork only a handful of times compared to the digital artwork on our computers /iPods. 

 

LLL are just the best, they think of everything. It's why I'm so happy to keep handing over my hard-earned to them, because I know their attention to detail is meticulous!

On a slightly related note, it would be interesting to know how many of the 5,000 copies (once it's sold out) went to customers in the Americas, in Europe, and in Asia/Oceania....

 

I'm pretty sure it's divided up evenly among these 3 major territories.

@Jay Just wondering, is there a reason why PS has multiple cover art designs but COS and POA do not (and essentially reuse the existing OST cover art)?

 

Would be very cool to see some alternative/draft artwork for Azkaban, if Jim Titus ever considered them. 

 

On a slightly unrelated note, I finally got around to reading through the booklet for Dracula. Jim absolutely knocked that booklet out of the park, just superb art direction all round. If Potter matches that, it will be glorious indeed.

HP2 isn't the OST cover. It's the DVD cover. The DVD was a blackish cover with the main characters (there were also alternative covers with the characters alone). The HP2 LLL cover is the DVD cover. HP3 is the OST image.

Brilliant! A reversible cover or an insert would have been even nicer, but since the box will sit on the shelf 99.9% of its lifetime, that's nearly irrelevant. It's definitely cool to have this.

Yes but this is purely cosmetic.  I’ve read both the American and British printings of this book, it makes no difference to the plot, characters, or impact of the novel.  So since it ultimately doesn’t matter at all, I feel fine preferring the title of the book I read when I was 12.

I’ll always have a soft spot for Sorcerer’s but Philosopher’s obviously wins any non-nostalgic arguments. I just call it HP1 online to avoid the distinction, but I find it hilarious that WB is still all Sorcerer’s or bust.
