The best movie villains of the 21st century so far?

That's not the point. Whenever you bring Nazis to the table, the audience is already preconditioned (and rightly so) to hate them, even before they do anything villanous. The villain's backstory is in the audience's existing knowledge base.

There are exceptions to the rule. CONSPIRACY won you over with the sheer pragmatic logic of the Final Solution, devised on a weekend in the country. As a piece of drama, one admires the utter mundane ordinaryness, of it all.

VALKYRIE, on the other hand, says "no more. He's gone too far". The characters recognise the need to save Germany, by sacrificing its leader.

We need a thread for our extensive collection of the meta-cultural villains of the 21st century

If we're going down that road, I don't think anyone will be able to top this guy...

I'm sorry, JS, but there's nothing that's even remotely    about Margaret Thatcher.

It always looks like George is wearing a wig - his hairline is too low.

I’ll nominate Danny Elfman for his entire career.

Nah, his career started out well enough, but he's now merely a shadow of his former self.

If you ever create a Thatcher smiley, I will, personally, find out where you live, come round your house, stick my hand down your gullet, and pull your innards inside out of your body, via your mouth.

What must you be like during the final 2 minutes of For Your Eyes Only?

I have a lot of qualms with the movie, but I loved Ralph Fiennes in "In Bruges"

It's an inanimate fucking object!

You're an inanimate fucking object!

Actually, Steef, I don't mind that, as she's being lampooned. John Wells is great, in that.

I don't mind "her" at the end of AMAROK, either.

A-tac to St. Cyril's. A-tac to St. Cyril's.

Btw Fiennes as Voldemort was rather underwhelming. In the books he is horrifying in every possible way. In the films he was rather goofy at times and just not that menacing.

like a goofier Imhotep
