I use shuffle in my car to play through thousands of JW tracks that are on my phone, on my way to work. My drive is about 30 minutes each way. Never know what you’re going to get. But it’s always good. At least the sound is good as my phone plays Flac through a Dragonfly USB DAC. And my car has a 9 speakers Bose system. This would explain why Mike M. was not responding to any queries about it when he was on the FSM forum two weeks ago commenting and answering questions about the LLL CD set. (Heck, when one poster said that the CD was announced for purchase on that person’s birthday, Mike M. wished that person a happy belated birthday.) I’m guessing that there have not been any developments to report on the LTP concert since he made that statement on your podcast @TownerFan, and I respect Mike M for that reasoning. Filmtracks has a tracklist of that 72 minute version of the OST, but it splits the flying sequence into two tracks, while the LLL remaster has one eight-minute track on disc 3. I'm not sure I can use words to describe. This wasn't just an alternate track, this was a total different interpretation of the scene, musically-speaking. And it has it's own identity, just like every track in that amazing score. and how special is it? This is Williams in his "ultimate prime", between Star Wars and Empire. Doing something new and wonderful with the freakin' LSO! A completely new track of prime-Williams! Reminds me of when they found those Superman IV Jeremy arrangements. But better. I know this score better than I know any other and I've never heard it with this much presence and clarity. It's like you're in the room with the orchestra. This may be the most impressive of Mike's work yet, although I'm admittedly biased by my love for this score. The music has a warmth to it that I never knew it was lacking before this release. Don't get me wrong, the Blue Box is a stunning release and a crown jewel of my music library. I'll try to do an A/B comparison at some point, but to my ears, it's just no contest when it comes to audio quality. This is a worthy upgrade all the way.
